  • Substantially boosted the ecology experience gained from chopping down trees and fishing. Fishing trains every ten minutes and then additionally you get training whenever you successfully catch anything. This training is capped at 5 ranks for fishing and 4 ranks for tree-chopping. These are likely still not going to be the fastest ways to train the skill, but the hope is that you can get a fair amount of experience passively by going about your day and trying to survive, as with many other skills.

  • Toe talons is no longer in the list of mutations in the experiment or any other scenario. This is a post-threshold mutation and was grayed out because you can't begin play as a post-threshold mutant, so it wasn't possible to select it anyway.

  • Miss reason messaging now prints less often when you miss, so there's less spam in the message log.

  • Torso encumbrance miss reasons ("your torso encumbrance throws you off-balance!") were still printing far too aggressively. These now do not print ever if you are below 20 torso encumbrance, and scale up as you approach 40 torso encumbrance, where they cap out. This means that if you are seeing the torso encumbrance message when you miss an attack, you should know that it is now much more likely to be describing a major problem. The intent is that new players learn torso encumbrance is bad and experienced ones get a reminder when they wander into combat with their backpack still on, but the message was spammy when there was barely a penalty and was mostly just teaching people to ignore it.

  • Fixed a number of issues with getting training from static NPCs such as Fatima in the Refugee Center. This type of training no longer throws an error message.

  • Fatima was double-charging for training. She no longer does so, but she will not train you until you have finished her quest.

  • Fixed a longstanding issue with the "quiet farmhouse" encounter. Previously, many players were successfully solving this encounter and then not realizing they'd been given an item which had to be activated from their inventory, so they would die to what seemed like a bug. Now you don't need to use the item, that part is handled automatically once you finish the puzzle.

  • Monsters who become zombies (e.g. feral humans) now have filth applied to their clothes. Lorewise, the feral humans aren't transforming into zombies, they're just dying and coming back like anybody else, but for whatever reason this is coded as a direct upgrade, so I've implemented this failsafe.

    • I will probably make them actually die and come back at some point if you're wondering, but it's still good practice to ensure that things work properly if they are done this way.

  • Monsters which go up a size category when they evolve, such as a standard zombie evolving into a boomer, now hulk out of and destroy all of their clothing which isn't flagged as oversized.

  • Removed slime weak points. A slime is definitionally an undifferentiated mass of goo, it has no weak points.

    • あたしのスタンド、「I'm the Slime」には弱点がない!

  • Slimes of all varieties now have very low caps for training. These enemies are highly exploitable and pose little risk to a knowledgeable player, and people were farming them for risk-free training to very high levels.

  • Removed slime pits from the overmap. TLG lore holds that slimes are water soluble, meaning that while individuals may find their way to the surface, they'd all die the first time it rained, so this location made no sense.

    • The above change will likely cause error messages to pop up when loading existing saves. Press i to ignore them.

  • Renamed the amoebic mold to gelatinous mass, as it was neither an amoeba nor a mold.

  • Grenades should no longer blast holes in the dirt. You basically need a dynamite bundle or larger to blow out a 1mx1mx2m crater.

  • Removed brain blobs. These were almost never used and didn't do much, and were no longer functional. Their ability was supposed to draw slimes back to the slime pits, but without slime pits, it just made slimes stand totally still and not do anything.

  • Groups of slimes you may encounter in the world are now a bit less spammy.

  • Slime fields (that is, slime that spills on the ground when you attack a slime) now properly appear as black goo rather than green. This goo now forms puddles when adjacent to each other rather than just repeated individual tiles.

  • Plasma fields (which appear when you fire a plasma gun) now properly form clouds when adjacent to each other, rather than just repeated individual tiles.

  • The crashed airliner is no longer rendered as ascii on the overmap.

  • Triffid roots are no longer rendered as ascii on the overmap.

  • Extracted more strings for translation, meaning translators have more strings they can fill in.

  • @CN-Xuan submitted more updates to the simplified Chinese translation.

  • @Federkiel added tiles for tonewood, balisong, electrohack, barometer, cooked beans, folded inflatable boat, rodent skull, and hard chest guard.
