Salutations!

We are putting the finishing touches on yet another content update that will make its way to your shores some time next week! I'll let you take a little peek at what we've got in store for you if you promise to give us a Steam Review (if you haven't already). Deal? Okay, great! Let's get started.

Modifiers

Modifiers are a new system that allows players to customize their games just the way they like them, whether it's to create a chill or challenging experience. Each modifier comes with a number attached to it. When combined, the total numbers will show you roughly how easy or hard the game will be compared to a normal game.

Do you wish rent was cheaper, or would you like a visual indicator that shows you whether you've eaten or not this round? You've got it! Do you want a brutal experience where there is a permanent heat wave and jobs are harder to come by? Have you tried the real world, pal?

We hope that you can have fun with the initial set of modifiers, and hopefully you'll see more of them in the future.

Solo & Co-op Challenges

It's happening!

Challenges are a new game mode where players will not compete for the usual scores, but will instead have to complete a new set of goals. Each challenge has certain objectives that must be met, such as reaching education level 9 or feeding the birds each round. If an objective is not met, challenge failed!

To make things more interesting, each challenge also comes with a set of modifiers which more often than not make it harder to reach said objectives. The combinations of modifiers and objectives create challenges for players to tackle. But you needn't go at it alone!

We will also be releasing a number of co-operative challenges (two is a number, right?) where you can work together with your friends! These objectives scale with the number of players, so you can gather two to six players to take on the gauntlet.

When playing together, each goal can be contributed to by any player. In the "Save the School" challenge shown above, one player might focus on doing quests while another might try to finish the shifts required in the academy. Or they might decide to split the load evenly!

We will be releasing eight solo challenges and two co-op challenges in next week's update to test the waters.

Online Quickplay

Walk of Life has received several complaints about games being hard to find. While we wait for the game to inevitably become a global viral sensation on the scale of K-Pop or blue jeans, we will be adding a new option to hopefully make matchmaking a bit quicker.

When Online Quickplay is selected, you will search for a 1v1 game versus another player. As soon as another quickplay player is found in your region, the game will begin automatically after a short countdown. The settings are always the same, 10 rounds, normal difficulty, so there's nothing to configure.

We hope that Online Quickplay eases some of the waiting during matchmaking until Walk of Life becomes a household name across the globe.

That's it for now! We'll be back next week with the final candidate for the upcoming role vote as well as a brand new content update!

Smell you later!
