New
Deathmatch capital-ship boss event — roughly every 10 minutes, a
fully-upgraded fourth-rate warship arrives at the center of the map with
a warning banner ("A capital ship has arrived! Beware of its
broadsides!"). It out-ranges any player-built ship and patrols the
middle of the fight, paying out gold for every point of damage you land
on it — with a big gold and score bonus for the killing blow, plus a
pile of rum dropped on death.
Mouse aim for mortars — aim the mortar reticle just by moving your
mouse, instead of nudging it with the gamepad stick or keyboard. Couch /
split-screen play is unaffected.
Passive gold income in Deathmatch — every ship still afloat earns a
slow trickle of gold over time, on top of everything else.
Bomb ketch mortars are fully modeled — the bomb ketch's mortar wells
are no longer empty: real sculpted mortar models now sit in place, with
a real detonation sound effect replacing the old placeholder boom.
Changes & Balance
Treasure fleet events now arrive every 8 minutes instead of every 10.
Mortar aiming camera zoomed in for a tighter, more readable view, and max
mortar range increased to 110 m.
Nameplates are bigger and visible from farther away in every mode, with
your team's color tinting the plate in Deathmatch.
Mortar audio polish — the incoming-mortar whistle now times out right as
the shell lands, and the firing sound is punchier.
