I want to thank everyone who played Epicenter VR when it released, and especially those who stuck around for updates as I continued working on the project. As you might can tell from the time gap between the last game update and today, I've been away for quite a long time.
First, I have a much longer and more personal version of this message on my Discord, so if you'd like to see that and come hang out over there, you can do so here!
But if you just want the short of it, here's the TL;DR for where I've been and what's coming next.
For the last two years, I've been extremely tied up with my regular job, personal matters, heck, even new game releases, and that kept me from being as active, or at all really. I was working on a sequel for Epicenter VR but about 1.5 years ago scrapped the idea and started working with what little motivation I had in Godot. In that time, I've slowly been learning the editor, doing small test projects and such. It was nothing I ever felt was worth showing off, so I just stayed silent during that time.
Well, today I decided to break that silence and finally show off where that Godot progress has gotten me to. I'm releasing a free-to-play Godot remake of the original game-jam game that inspired Epicenter VR in the first place! It's called Just Hold On Redux and is on Itch.io right now!
Play now!
Here's a little trailer I threw together for the release.
I also have news on where I'm going next with my game dev journey. Right now, I'm learning the Godot XR Tools, and have been tinkering with some ideas for my next game. I can't promise anything right now, but I plan to show my Godot XR progress in the discord from here on out, so if you want to see how things are going, talk about game ideas, or whatever else, feel free to join!
Here's some screenshots of my recent XR progress. If you would like to the video clips these screenshots were taken from, they're also on my Discord!
Basic hand posing
Object manipulation
UI Interactions
Climbing
Asymmetric multiplayer client testing
That last one is super exciting since it means I can 100% handle a case where a VR player and PC player can local co-op on the same machine, without the limitations that a single client process would cause!
That's all for now. If you made it this far through this post, thank you. I'll post again here when I have actual news regarding a future project. In the meantime, join me on Discord and say hi!
Thanks,
-Circuit
