Ahoy, pirates!

Six weeks ago we opened the gates to Early Access. A lot has happened since then, and it feels like the right moment to look back at it together.

Captain's log, in brief

  • 13 patches

  • 236 changes

  • 1 major update

  • 1 line that changed everything (more on that below)

Early Access went live on August 18, and the first weeks were all about getting the basics right.

  • The Ship and the Castle opened up to everyone during our event

  • The Golden Sword and the Golden Hand Cannon showed up in the store

  • Voice chat got three modes

  • The Titanic appeared on the Ship levels, ready to be smashed and hauled out piece by piece

  • Progress now saves every day, not just at each chapter

  • Solo and team play got their own balance, from the quota and store prices to how many enemies show up

  • Sharks swim straight through the cart now, which feels right for a ghost

On September 10 the major update landed, and on the same day Last Pirates became Steam Deck Verified.

  • The statues woke up. A new hunter now waits in your levels, and it comes in two shapes

  • The spider that clamped onto your head was rebuilt from scratch into a jellyfish, for everyone who asked for an arachnophobia option

  • The boomerang, the cover for fragile loot and the teleport crystal joined your kit

  • No more of the same location three levels in a row. The Mansion, the Ship and the Castle now take turns, and each one brings its own set of enemies

  • Twenty Steam achievements to hunt down

  • A new main menu and a fresh look for the parrot

  • You ranked every monster in the game in our tier list, and the Mimic won by a mile

  • Every Tuesday, a few of you get to play a round with the devs themselves. Keep an eye on the announcements to grab a seat

  • The whole server teamed up to crack a mystery, and every lock gave away a clue about what was coming

  • On September 3, a patch with a single line in it: the game loads faster. We stand by its title

  • The store was rebuilt around the new progression, and the quota climbs steadily all the way through

  • The lobby got a new look, with previews for every section

  • 70 new places to find loot across 15 levels

  • Elevator call levers on all levels

  • Gold you earn now makes it to the shop in full

  • Mimics keep their cauldrons on, and revives stay in sync between players

  • Chapter pages snap into place and can be browsed with the mouse

The Halloween update is on its way with plenty of fun, spooky content, so keep an eye on our news. In the meantime, we'd love to hear what you want to see in 1.0. Tell us in our Discord!

If someone you know has been watching from the shore, now's the time to pull them in. The discount runs for a week.

A huge thank you to everyone who played, reported bugs and stuck with us through these six weeks.

Grab a friend while the price is low, and see you on the islands.
