Hello everyone, this is studio wasp.

Thank you so much for the wonderful response and warm comments on our first store page announcement. They have been a huge motivation for our development!

In this second issue, we would like to introduce the behind-the-scenes process of our background production, which forms the core of our visuals and direction.

Our visual goal is to accurately capture the unique "Hong Kong-ness" of 2007 Hong Kong. To push the boundaries of cinematic camera framing, we build functional 3D sets as our structural foundation.

Reconstructing Lost Memories: "Mawa Restaurant" (馬華餐廳)

Some locations in the game no longer exist in the real world. One example is Mawa Restaurant (馬華餐廳), a famous local spot that has unfortunately closed down.

We reconstructed the interior layout in a 3D space based on historical data. While the raw 3D model might look like a very simple blueprint, by placing the characters inside and applying our final 2D-style stylized filters, it transforms into a cinematic shot with deep perspective.

Obsession with Authentic Architecture

作中のTo bring absolute conviction to indoor spaces like crime scenes within the story, we sourced real Hong Kong residential floor plans from local real estate listings for reference.

By building a 3D set of an apartment room based on these plans, we verified how the characters would actually move through the space.

Ultimately, we rewrote the narrative prose and even re-recorded parts of the dialogue to perfectly match these verified movements.

Capturing "Hong Kong-ness" in the Smallest Details

The soul of Hong Kong's streets is hidden in everyday details. For instance, in a construction site scene, we deliberately modeled the city’s iconic bamboo scaffolding piece by piece in 3D, and recreated the ubiquitous blue-and-white striped nylon sheets.

By focusing heavily on composition and lighting during the final rendering stage, we managed to capture the exact atmosphere of a pre-dawn construction site where an injured character hides.

Furthermore, from the double-gate elevators of old multi-purpose buildings to the mosaic tiles of the corridors and the iron folding gates, we are meticulously fitting together tiny pieces like a jigsaw puzzle.

These 3D sets are our invisible "scaffolding" that you won't see on the final screen. However, by stacking these details, we can deliver a story with far richer depth and information.

Thank you as always for your support. Please consider adding the game to your Steam Wishlist!
