Potion-Making is a card game where players collect magical ingredients and transform simple starter potions into increasingly powerful creations. The original board game has become a true classic, with more than 300,000 boxes sold over the past two decades. The digital adaptation expands the game's universe with new lore and story elements.
The game tells the story of the world of Potion-Making. Long ago, the Great Alchemist created the source of life, the First Tree, filling the world with magic. One day, the brilliant but mad alchemist Alexander Fulcanelli cast a forbidden spell over the Essence of Void, and the world began to fall into decline.
Using the last of its strength, the First Tree saved the world from destruction. Now it calls upon you, the Chosen Ones, who may be able to rekindle the flame of life once again.
At the heart of the game lies a recipe system. Simple elements combine into potions, potions become elixirs, and elixirs can be transformed into even more powerful alchemical creations, including mythical creatures. Every discovery becomes part of a larger combination and unlocks new recipes to explore. But alchemy is only part of the journey.
Creating elixirs and creatures rewards players with movement tokens, allowing them to travel to Places of Power. The first player to visit three different Places of Power wins the game. To succeed, you'll need to discover the most efficient recipe chains, plan your route across the map, keep an eye on your opponents, and use previously crafted potions in new experiments. Sometimes the ingredient you need is already sitting on another alchemist's table. The challenge is claiming the opportunity before anyone else does.
During the playtest, you'll be able to learn the core mechanics and experiment with different strategies across two starter maps while playing against AI.
Some features will not yet be available, and certain gameplay elements may change based on your feedback as development continues. You can already enjoy every available map against bots, so there's no need to gather a full group to play. For players who enjoy competing with friends, multiplayer will be available at launch.
