This is a stability update, and a big one. You have been sending us reports through the in game F8 tool and through the community, and they pointed us straight at the worst problems: a freeze when assigning a refinery, a crew member stranded on the surface with no way home, a rocket that refuses to launch because of cargo that does not exist, ground that says "construction already there" when nothing is on it. All of those are fixed, along with many more, and Astronaut training now goes far past where it used to stop.
image goes here, add via the Steam editor: a base in construction mode, or the Astronaut training screen
Three freezes are gone: assigning a refinery to a mining site, connecting a fabricator to a digging site by hand, and a missing power relay that stuck the green placement ghost to your cursor and locked the whole interface with it. Invisible leftover construction marks that refused every build on a tile are fixed too, and saves that already have them are repaired the first time you open construction mode. The Fuel Shortage event no longer cuts your cargo so deep that an Excavator cannot fit, which could soft lock a young colony for two weeks.
An Astronaut back from a dual seat Scout survey could lose their connection to the base and stand there stranded, and on long saves a few Astronauts failing to load would freeze every vehicle on the Moon in place. Both are fixed, and so is the starvation penalty that kept draining your reputation long after everyone was fed. On the cargo side, a rocket no longer reloads with phantom weight and a grayed out Launch button, rotating a package mid drag no longer breaks the drag, and flatbed trucks no longer drive to the Maintenance Facility empty over a request for less than one unit.
Astronaut training used to stop at level 3. The cap is now 9, so a crew member who stays with you has six more levels to earn. XP per work shift dropped by nearly 30% to match, so each level takes a little more time to reach. Training is a long career now instead of a short course.
Fixes are most of this update, but we are also building new features for the versions ahead, and some of them are well under way. Nothing is ready to show yet, and we would rather show you something working than announce it early.
Almost every line in the changelog below started with somebody pressing F8, writing a post, or describing a stuck truck in a Discord thread at an hour when they should have been asleep. Thank you for the reports, for the patience, and for sticking with the game while we get it right.
And as always, the best way to help is to press F8 in game to send us bugs and feedback.
See you on the surface, The Possible One Team
Fixed a bug where an Astronaut lost their connection to the base after a dual seat Scout survey, leading to them standing stranded with no way to recover them.
Fixed a bug where a few Astronauts failing to load aborted the whole load, leading to every vehicle on a late save (day 215) standing still or snapping back to an old position.
Fixed a bug where the Earthside roster used the old division icons while the hire buttons used the new ones, leading to the same crew type showing two different icons in one window.
Fixed a bug where Clear Cargo removed Astronauts from the list but not from the ship, leading to them reappearing when the window was reopened.
Fixed a bug where the starvation reputation penalty was never cleared, leading to reputation still draining after everyone was fed again.
Fixed a bug where delivery requests could ask for less than one unit, leading to flatbed trucks driving to the Maintenance Facility empty over and over.
Fixed a bug where the capacity bar rounded and the tooltip did not, leading to spare parts showing 10 on the bar and 9 in the tooltip.
Fixed a bug where the rescue rover wheel bounce was set far too high, leading to its tires walking up and down on unpaved ground.
Fixed a bug where cargo queued on a rocket but never launched was saved, leading to phantom weight (1255 / 1250 kg) and a grayed out Launch button after loading that save.
Fixed a bug where right clicking to rotate a package mid drag broke the drag, leading to cargo that could not be moved onto the ship.
Fixed a bug where the refinery assignment panel did extra work every time it was opened, leading to the game freezing when assigning a refinery to a mining site.
Fixed a bug where connecting a fabricator to a digging site by hand looped forever, leading to a hard freeze.
Fixed a bug where a missing relay threw an error during power line spread, leading to the green placement ghost sticking and the whole UI locking up.
Fixed a bug where invisible leftover construction marks stayed on road tiles, leading to "construction already there" and terrain that could never be built on. Broken saves are repaired the first time construction mode is opened.
Fixed a bug where the same tile accepted scan orders again and again, leading to hundreds of stacked scans on one cell.
Fixed a bug where ordering a corridor demolish disconnected the base instantly, leading to the garage going inactive and the truck never being able to reach the corridor to deconstruct it.
Fixed a bug where scanning next to a gate plan wiped the plan's marks, leading to the gate display disappearing until adjacent corridors were placed.
Fixed a bug where the on screen legend promised "SHIFT + LMB = PLACE MULTIPLE" during the tutorial when shift continue is deliberately off, leading to players holding Shift and getting one placement.
Fixed a bug where a cell covered by two power sources went to whichever was processed first, leading to cables and coverage depending on processing order instead of distance. The nearest source now wins.
Fixed a bug where the research screen rounded half a point up to 1, leading to research showing as affordable but refusing to start.
Fixed a bug where the Fuel Shortage event text blamed the player's reputation, leading to confusion about a random event.
Fixed a bug where the Fuel Shortage cargo cut of 50% left no room for an Excavator, leading to a soft lock for up to 14 days. The cut is now 30%.
Fixed a bug where the Medical Wing objective did not complete after the building was finished.
Fixed a bug where Escape on the Star View opened the pause menu, leading to a different behavior from the shipment and Earthside menus. It now returns to the base.
Fixed a bug where building unlocks fired during the post tutorial cutscene, leading to unlock sounds playing over a black screen with nothing to see.
Fixed a bug where G still opened the wiki while the F8 report was open, leading to the report window losing focus.
Fixed a bug where the Earthside Ops button had no guide page, leading to it being the only bottom bar menu without one. Added, with division icons, in six languages.
Fixed a bug where a leftover debug message from the Star View ship status panel spammed the log.
Fixed a bug where a resolution change that only differed in fullscreen state was skipped, leading to 4K never applying no matter how many times it was set.
Fixed a bug where deleting the last save left an empty expedition folder behind, leading to that expedition name being blocked forever.
Changed Astronaut training XP per work shift from 11.25 to 8.
Changed the Astronaut training level cap from 3 to 9.
