A Better Guide System, and a Long List of Fixes

Hello Industrialists and Astronauts!

A smaller update this time, and a practical one. You told us the guidance was either too much or not enough depending on who you are, and that the two switches controlling it did not quite line up. So they are now one setting with three levels. The rest is a long list of fixes, nearly all of them from somebody pressing F8.

One Setting, Three Levels

Skip Tutorial and Show Guide are gone, replaced by a single choice. Full runs the opening tutorial and keeps the guide boxes and the wiki markers on. Basic skips the tutorial and keeps the guides, for when you know the game but not this part of it. None turns all of it off. It sits in the New Game setup and in the Options menu, each level explains what it does before you pick it, and you can change your mind inside a running save. Existing saves are carried over to the matching level on their own, so nothing changes underneath you.

And Everything Else

Most of the changelog below started as an F8 report. Alert text that ran off into one unreadable line, a close button that stopped working when you switched a building off, base view icons that would not leave the screen when you opened Contracts, event titles shouting in capitals, a reward icon squashed into an ellipse. Small things on their own, and exactly the sort that wear you down over a long session.

You Make This Possible 💖

Thank you, as always, for the reports and the threads. This update is a short one and almost every line of it exists because somebody took the time to tell us. Please keep pressing F8 in game to send us bugs and feedback.

See you on the surface, The Possible One Team

Version 0.7.05.0113 Changelog

Guide Settings

The tutorial and the guide boxes are now one setting with three levels. Full runs the opening tutorial and keeps the guide boxes and wiki markers on. Basic skips the tutorial and keeps the guides. None turns both off. Available in the New Game setup and in the Options menu, changeable inside a running save, and existing saves are carried over to the matching level automatically.

Astronauts and Crew

  • Fixed Astronaut rows in the Earthside crew window drawing on top of their own scrollbar.

  • The skill description text in the Astronaut Upgrade Tree is now larger and easier to read.

Vehicles and Logistics

  • The Central Hub Deployer is now called the Outpost Deployer.

  • Fixed the Shipping ETA percentage on the bottom bar being too small to read.

Construction and Demolition

  • Fixed the Pressurized Components alert above a building under construction running off into one long unreadable line. Long alerts now wrap onto several lines.

  • Fixed a scanned terrain marker on a rocks cell turning red after the scan finished instead of clearing.

Missions, Contracts, Events, Research

  • Fixed the Event window reward title showing in all capitals instead of the name as written.

  • Fixed the Event window buttons showing broken, pixelated text.

  • Reward icons for Reputation and Astronaut Cap now use their proper colors, gold and purple, everywhere a reward icon appears.

  • Fixed a reward icon in the tier advance tooltip picking up the color of a different reward shown before it.

  • Fixed the reward icon being stretched into an ellipse instead of keeping its shape.

UI, HUD, Menus, Wiki

  • Fixed the close button on a building panel being grayed out when you switched that building off, which left no way to close the panel.

  • Fixed base view icons staying on screen after you opened the Contracts screen.

  • The pause and play button tooltip now says Play when the game is paused, instead of always saying Pause.

  • The day progress ring at the bottom right now sweeps clockwise while the game runs.

  • Updated the Progression icon.

Localization, Text, Fonts

  • Fixed the Greenhouse description saying it feeds 6 Astronauts when it feeds 9. Corrected in every language.

Saves, Stability, Performance

  • Fixed the time controls starting out disabled every time you loaded an older save.
