In Ember Covenant, the Furnace belongs to both sides. Before burning a card, look at what the extra Ember lets you do — and what the hotter Furnace lets your enemy do next.
A normal Burn removes that card for the rest of the fight, grants 2 Ember, and raises shared Heat by 3. Keeper abilities, relics, and other bonuses can change that trade. Mora's Kindle grants one additional Ember from burning. Ember is capped at 9, so check whether you can actually use the gain.
Burning a card does not play its normal ability. Some cards have a separate Cinder effect that can trigger when its Heat requirement is met; read the Burn preview before confirming.
The basic shared damage bonus is:
Card effects and other modifiers can change the final damage. Heat does not cool automatically. After burning or cooling, check enemy intent again before ending your turn.
The highlighted sigil in the Litany display is the next one you need. Play a card carrying that sigil to advance the sequence. A card with two sigils can satisfy the next required one, but does not automatically complete two steps.
A different sigil can break the sequence. If that card contains the first sigil, it can restart the sequence from step one. Otherwise progress resets. After a completion, the sequence starts again so you can earn its reward more than once.
Example: Banked Refrain, when selected
Play PYRE → PYRE → OATH. Its displayed reward is +3 damage to the target and 5 Ward. Other Litanies and verses have different sequences or rewards; check the active name and reward in your own run.
The September update makes the reward visible before completion and shows a named completion message when the Litany fires. It improves the feedback; it does not introduce new combination rules.
At a Kindle opportunity, choose a card, inspect its focused preview and exact improvement, then confirm. Consider both its ability and whether its sigils support the Litany you are trying to repeat.
