Hello everyone! One of the main goals of this update is to address several blockers reported by completionists and achievement hunters. We’ve also added World Rules, including the option to disable “Drop Backpack on Death.” In multiplayer, this setting is controlled by the host.

New World Rules: Keep Your Backpack on Death!

Many players have asked for the ability to decide whether their backpack should drop on death. When exploring far from home, taking on dangerous areas, or playing multiplayer, returning to the place of death can mean a long repeated journey and interrupt the flow of exploration.

You can now turn off “Drop Backpack on Death” under Game Options > World. Please note that this rule is enabled by default in every new world. Players who prefer a smoother exploration experience can turn it off, and each world will save its own setting.

  • In single-player, you can change World Rules directly.

  • In multiplayer, only the host can change them. Any changes will immediately sync to all players and appear as a message in chat.

  • The Friendly Fire toggle has also been moved to World Rules and will only appear in multiplayer.

We plan to add more world customization options in future updates. Besides backpack drops and Friendly Fire, what other settings would you like to see in World Rules? Let us know in the comments! We’ll carefully record and evaluate your suggestions while considering their impact on the overall experience and game balance.

Collection, Achievements, and Quest Progression

We’ve reorganized fish distribution across the caves and desert to address cases where certain fish were difficult to collect. We’ve also fixed an issue that could prevent the Super Carrot-related achievement from unlocking and improved objective guidance for several quests.

  • Adjusted fish distribution across different cave and desert areas, increasing the encounter rate of several harder-to-find fish and making fish collection easier to complete.

  • Adjusted the distribution of cave insects to improve the collection of certain species.

  • Fixed an issue where the related farming achievement might not unlock when a Super Carrot finished growing off-screen.

  • Increased the chance for Treant Guardians to drop Blue Swim Trunks. Star-marked Treant Guardians will now always drop Blue Swim Trunks.

  • Added clearer objective markers and guidance to the quest “Legacy Assets.”

  • Corrected the Tin Shovel’s tool tier from Copper to Tin.

Follow-up Fixes for Recent Issues

  • Added another fix for cases where Zipline Hooks could not be dismantled.

  • Yesterday, we fixed an issue where Crab Houses could not be activated in certain positions. Some players later reported that their Crab Houses were still stuck. After further investigation, today’s update covers more edge cases. After updating and restarting the game, please try activating your Crab House again.

Other Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where bosses could regenerate health during normal combat.

  • Fixed an issue where controls assigned to the middle or side mouse buttons could stop working after restarting the game.

  • Fixed an issue in multiplayer where the “E” interaction prompt would not appear above a character while waiting for other players to sleep.

Issues Under Investigation and Future Plans

  • We are still investigating an issue where the E-Drill may sometimes fail to operate. This issue has not been fully resolved in this update.

  • We’ve received feedback that neutral creatures and statues need more reliable, repeatable ways to be obtained in the late game. We are currently exploring suitable respawn and reacquisition methods.

Follow-up Plans for Desert Combat Difficulty

After further discussion of your feedback on desert combat difficulty, our first step is to give players more ways to respond to these challenges. We are currently reworking shield and dodge-roll mechanics. The video below shows the current work-in-progress:

Many thanks to unclecat for recording the footage! These mechanics are still in development and testing, so their exact behavior and values may continue to change.

We’ll continue tracking how each fix performs in practice while reviewing other issues reported by the community. Thank you very much for your feedback, patience, and support!

This update targets a common controller and Steam Deck pain point: lining up a Portal on the map. The selection frame is larger, nearby Portals snap into focus, and analog map panning now supports fine input, sustained acceleration, and quicker braking. We also fixed a serious Map Sync Station stall that could disconnect other players.
