Roguelite Deck-builder Update

All newsPlayers around this dateRead on Steam

Highlights

  • Added roguelite runs.
  • Added run-persistent unit & monster deck-building.
  • Added run-persistent perks.
  • Added augments for units and monsters.
  • Added an ascension ladder.
  • Added a Compendium.

Monsters

  • Reworked the monster spawn algorithm. Each MonsterSpawn now always spawns the same monster type.
  • Reduced the max monster count per spawn by 1, so more spawns activate and variety stays high despite sticky spawn types.
  • Reworked the monster pathfinding algorithm — ~10× more performant, with more intuitive paths around rivers.
  • Reworked and rebalanced the difficulty curve.
  • Added a new monster: Dreadhide.
  • Lowered Nightpiercer's attack range.
  • Increased the wind-up time before monsters attack on arriving at the base.

Units

  • Reduced the no-movement time after attacking for melee units.
  • Improved melee chasing: units no longer chase unreachable targets, and follow a target already in range until their attack is ready instead of stopping and re-walking.
  • Reduced the spawn rate of Spawners (their minion output was already strong without synergies).
  • Binding Fire now deals triple damage to critically slowed targets.

Tiles

  • Reworked the MonsterSpawn placement algorithm to prevent bad RNG.
  • MonsterSpawns are now shown one round in advance before they spawn monsters.
  • Reworked Wellspring.

Quests

  • Reworked the quest spawn-position algorithm to prevent bad RNG (e.g. two quests sharing neighbor cells can no longer demand different tiles for the same position, which previously made one quest uncompletable).
  • Reworked the quest goal algorithm to prevent bad RNG.
  • Reworked the quest category algorithm to prevent bad RNG.
  • Added quest category Tile.
  • Removed quest category Mechanic.
  • Added several new rewards for Tile quests.

UX Improvements

  • Added a "View Board" button during reward selection.
  • Added a Cancel button during Reposition.
  • Hovering a tile now shows the placed unit's tooltip; hovering a monster spawn shows the monsters' tooltip.
  • Added the Monster Deck and Tile Deck to the pause menu.
  • Added draw pile and discard pile to the HUD, with animations that teach the draw/discard mechanic.
  • Added a HUD marker for new monster spawns to notice them easily.
  • Added a monster path preview when hovering a monster or monster spawn.
  • Capped max FPS at launch to the current OS setting (was unlimited) until manually set by the player.

Perks were the least meaningful choice in a run. The rebuild is meant to make every perk shape how you play and give each run its own identity. · Counted stacks. Almost all status effects used to be binary: a monster either had one or not. Reworked status effects now come in counted stacks, so the question is no longer whether to commit to a strategy, but instead by…Game update16 Aug 2026German Localization and Quest Display UX ImprovementsHighlights · The game is now playable in German. · A new hotkey shows every monster path and outlines all monster spawns at once. · The quest display rotates now together with the camera. Units · Removed the Focused Burst augment (Chaincaster: double damage when its attack hit only a single monster) and the Swiftness augments (Void-Spawner and Binder: +1 Move Speed).
