The biggest update since the beta: a new land on the other side of a portal, fifty quests that tell why the beasts lose their note, Surya stretched to level 35 and every lineage playing on its own attribute. Update required: the world checks the client version on connect.
New zone: the Marsh of the Sundering
- A portal opens in Surya, by the stone gate at the edge of the marsh. Walk up and it shows the land's name and the key to cross; use it and a window tells what is said of that place, the toll and the level it asks for: level 30 and 5 silver. If the journey fails, the toll comes back.
- The Marsh is a world of its own, with its own servers and channels: crossing is a journey with a loading screen, and coming back you appear by the portal.
- Dying there, or using the Homeward Stone, takes you back to Surya's Refuge.
- The Marsh has its own minimap and world map, with its waters painted as water.
- This is the first opening: the land, its waters and its light. What lives in it arrives in the next patches.
50 investigation quests in Surya (levels 10 to 35)
- Six new lines beside the usual forty, all about the same question: why the beasts lose their note. The Trail with Vyressa, The Apothecary with Ilvara and Rasayan, The Archives with Koshin and the three masters, The Pantry with Thira, Manikara and Syllin, The Anvil with Ayasmith, Naerys and Shaila, and The Mute with Samvara, up to the gate of the Marsh.
- Each line runs in arcs of at most five quests in a row, so several can be carried at once. They pay the level's experience, money, food and consumables, and a jewel of the level's metal.
- New objectives: places to reach, objects to investigate (walk up and press F, or click: a window with what you find and Take / Cancel) and containers that open like loot. Objects that are clues stay for everyone; containers hand each player what they still need.
- More than 150 new objects spread over Surya: stones, bowls, hives, carts, altars, furnaces, fish traps…
- 26 new quest items with their art, and the dialogues voiced in Spanish, English and Portuguese; texts in all seven languages.
- The journal holds 3 quests at a time: finish or abandon one before taking another. Each NPC lists all of theirs with their state.
- The forty main quests now run from level 1 to 35 (two per level in some stretches), with the set piece of your own lineage and no selector.
Progression and experience
- New level curve: easy to 10, a ramp to 20 and from there a plateau of about two hours per level. Level 50 in about 80 hours, 70 in about 170.
- Party: +15 % experience per member (two people 115 %, three 130 %). A gap of more than 15 levels in the party voids the split.
- Surya reaches level 35: the plateau and swamp species are reordered from 24 to 36 in the order the quests visit them, with more Brown Bears and Cuirassiers where they were needed. Common beasts have 30 % more health.
- Every species has its defence archetype (beast, armoured, knight, plant, fungus, chitin, aquatic, spirit, troll): each one hurts from something different.
- Chopping and crafting pay in fractions of one kill of your level.
Lineages and combat
- Every lineage strikes with its attribute: Vajrahn Strength for damage and Stamina as the wall (more health, block and regeneration per point than anyone), Sahira Cunning, Yodha Breath, Elunar Crystal. The character sheet explains it on each attribute. Attribute points weigh more than levels.
- Elunar rebalanced: the multi-hit skills (Crystal Storm, Lightning Storm, Meteors, Poison Cloud, Fireball, Venomous Bolt, Ice Arrow) split the skill's total across their impacts instead of multiplying it. In exchange the mage resists magic a little more. Sahira's Dance of Blades follows the same rule.
- The tank hits less and magic is its crack; the mage withstands magic a little better.
- All 91 skills have an explicit unlock level: basics at 1, 3 and 5, areas and nukes from 12 to 22, the signature at 25, the rest up to 45. Sahira's bow and dagger skills ask for the right weapon.
- Buffs have an animation and an aura on all four lineages, lasting as long as the buff.
- Mountain Stance strikes every second whoever stands within 2.5 m; Immovable Body no longer claims to taunt.
- Mantra of Healing is instant, like Healing Breath; the heal's effect lands with the animation.
Loot and gear
- Lineage seal: every lineage armour or weapon comes with that lineage's spirit (Stamina or Strength on Vajrahn, Cunning on Sahira, Breath on Yodha, Crystal on Elunar) at no less than half its window, on top of its random lines.
- Lineage gear leans to its lineage's affix family, and any roll may come out great.
- The reward jewel is rare and its metal follows the level: bronze up to 14, silver 15 to 22, gold 23 to 29, quartz 30 to 35.
Server and performance
- The world runs on a leaner build with less work per connection on every tick: less server load with many players.
- Unowned quest objects count for nobody until someone uses them; containers never empty out or vanish.
Fixes
- The Kindled Carapace aura shows again.
- The lineage seal's floor is the one the tooltip shows.
- Minimap photos are taken under neutral noon light: the map no longer changes colour with the hour it was shot at.
