IronFlux 0.1.10: Faster Battles, Cleaner Controls, a New Map Editor

Commanders, two updates have landed since our last post. Here is what changed in 0.1.9 and 0.1.10.

Big battles run smoother

Late-game fights with thousands of units now run about three times faster. Four-player matches stay responsive when every army is at full strength.

Every key does one thing

  • P now only pauses. The Pyre moved to Space.
  • Ctrl+B and Ctrl+V are only the blueprint keys. For endless Builder or Artillery production, Ctrl+click the button in the build panel.
  • The pause menu no longer triggers orders in the match behind it.
  • Locked buildings can't be placed with a hotkey, just as with the build panel.
  • Blueprint messages are now translated.

The full list of keys is in Options, under CONTROLS.

The Map Editor catches up

  • Pick the planet your map is set on, with its own look.
  • Paint lava and summit walls.
  • Start a new map from any of the nine map generator styles, then shape it by hand.
  • A checklist flags problems such as resources too close to a base, starts that can't be left on foot, or no water for ships, and jumps to each one.
  • The editor shows which game version a map needs.

Horde matches end properly

When the native horde was switched on, a finished match could run on, and the result screen could read "ALLIANCE 255 WINS". Matches now end as soon as one side is left, and the result names the winner. If the horde overruns everyone, the result says so.

IronFlux speaks 31 languages

The game, the store page and the demo page are now available in 31 languages.

Good to know

  • Multiplayer needs everyone on the same version. If versions differ, the game tells you to update.
  • Replays and saves from 0.1.9 can't be played back in 0.1.10.

What's next

The faction campaigns are next: thirty missions across the Cindral Vanguard, Pelagic Choir and Zephyrine Court, starting on their homeworlds. After that come more map styles, more Workshop features and further bot tuning.
