Rules of the Inn is a game about reading the rules that surface on the wall, and obeying them. If you can't read the rules, the game doesn't work. That's why Simplified Chinese support went further than dropping in subtitles:
- All 218 strings are translated: the rules, the hints, the guestbook, all four endings, and the achievement names. The same count as the Japanese build.
- The glyph shapes were switched, not just the text. Han characters shared between Japanese and Chinese render in Japanese forms if you leave them to font fallback. Making the Simplified Chinese font the primary keeps one sentence from mixing two scripts.
- The wall rules stay vertical. Only the English build wraps horizontally; Chinese reads naturally top-to-bottom, so it keeps the same "commandments hanging on the wall" look as the Japanese build.
Supported languages are now Japanese, English, and Simplified Chinese.
A Chinese trailer is ready as well, and will be released soon.
Release is November 5, 2026. We will also be taking part in the Steam Next Fest running October 19-26, 2026.
