0.6.0.1 Update — Blessing Rework, Quick Battles, Reward Reveals & Tons of New Gear

This is a pretty hefty update!

For 0.6.0.1, we wanted to give players more control over the choices they make. We've reworked how Blessings are handled, added the ability to spend Gold to peek at potential rewards, and given you new ways to speed through combat when you already know how things are going to play out.

We've also added more than 75 new sound effects, 60+ new items, new cards, traits, perks, decrees, and plenty of UI and combat polish.

Big Changes

Blessings Reworked

The Blessing system has received a major rework.

Recruits now receive their Blessing when you hire them instead of at the beginning of a mission.

After successfully completing a mission, you'll have an opportunity to change a character's Blessing, giving you more control over how your Veterans develop over time.

New Portal Enemy Types

The Portal just became a lot more dangerous.

Three new enemy types can now be encountered beyond the Portal:

  • Corrupted Fey — Twisted creatures with their own unique combat challenges

  • Oathbreakers — Fallen human warriors who bring new tactics to the battlefield

  • Clockwork Mechs — Mechanical enemies with their own strengths and weaknesses to overcome

Each enemy type is designed around a different combat challenge, giving Portal expeditions more variety and forcing your party to adapt to what waits on the other side.

Enter prepared.

Pay to Reveal Rewards

Don't want to gamble on which reward to choose?

You can now spend 50 Gold to reveal the potential Card or Item before making your selection.

Characters with higher Divinity can receive a discount on the reveal cost, giving Divinity another way to influence your decisions during a run.

Speed Up Combat

Sometimes you've already made your decisions and just want to see how it plays out.

You can now hold Spacebar during combat resolution to speed things up.

We've also added a Quick Resolve option in the settings if you'd prefer faster resolutions all the time.

Quick Battle Mode

A new Quick Battle mode is now available directly from the main menu.

Jump straight into a battle when you want to experiment with combat, try different strategies, or simply get into a fight without starting a full game.

60+ New Items

More than 60 new items have been added, with a much bigger focus on class-specific equipment.

We've especially expanded gear options for classes that previously had fewer unique items available to them.

75+ New Sound Effects

Combat should sound much more alive.

We've added over 75 new sound effects covering both player characters and enemies, giving attacks, abilities, and encounters more personality and impact.

Nickname Changes

Nicknames are now unique.

Only one Veteran can hold a particular nickname at a time. If that Veteran dies, is fired, or earns a different nickname, the old nickname becomes available again.

This should help nicknamed Veterans feel a little more special and memorable.

Combat & UI Improvements

  • Cleaner and easier-to-follow battle text during combat resolution

  • Certain enemies can now talk during combat, whether they're adding to the story or simply taunting your party

  • Improved encounter UI

  • The currently active character is now highlighted during combat

  • Character portraits provide better visual feedback when they're affected by combat actions

  • Added more character names to reduce duplicates and help individual characters feel more unique

More New Content

  • 12 new Cards, primarily focused on Ice and Electric magic

  • New Psychic enemy

  • New Traits

  • New Veteran Perks

  • New Decrees

  • Additional Status Effects

  • Additional items beyond the larger equipment expansion

  • More class-specific gear across several classes

Coming Next: Major Graphics Overhaul

Before getting into this update, we wanted to share a quick look ahead.

We've been working in the background on a major graphics overhaul for both the City and Combat screens, and we're incredibly excited to finally be getting close to sharing it with everyone.

The goal is to give these two major parts of the game a much stronger visual identity while also improving readability and the overall feel of playing the game.

This overhaul is planned for the next patch, and we can't wait for you to see what we've been working on!
