Nova Roma News Roundup

Over the last several patches, the development team has been laser-focused on finetuning and fixes. Here's a quick look at how their efforts have manifested in the last few patches.

  • Patch #9 reworked the marble icon so it's more distinct and improved troop pathfinding around water and bridges. It also retuned the outputs and worker counts for both the large charcoal maker and the large bakery so they actually feel like improvements over their smaller counterparts.
  • Patch #10 made small marble deposits passable by units, improved unit pathfinding through cities, and addressed foresters blocking the completion of a terrain project. It also made some adjustments to both CPU and graphics performance, which should feel pretty impactful to players with larger cities.
  • Patch #11 added a notification log entry for people dying of old age and adjusted some god anger cooldowns. It also updated marble quarries so they have their own job category instead of sharing with the stone quarry.

These are only a few of the standout changes in these patches, so make sure you check out the full changelogs for all the other fixes that might impact your own cities!

Nova Roma's most recent patch, Update #12, pays special attention to logistics. Firstly, it added the ability to restore logistic routs when rebuilding destroyed buildings. It also introduced an experimental feature that allows players to pre-populate a reasonable guess for the desired amount of goods for logistical purposes. The dev team is looking for active feedback on this second feature, so give it a go and see what you think!

In addition to making it so that transport carts can be built on roads, Update 12 also tweaks invasion scaling and brings a lot of fixes -- bridges will no longer collapse when a contiguous gate is destroyed, fire engines will no longer be assigned to other landmasses, and happiness math now properly applies dead body debuffs. So if you notice that your citizens seem a bit less satisfied than usual, check up on your funeral services infrastructure.
