Patch 1.2: a waystation at floor 20, crash recovery, visible progress

The first substantial patch, shaped almost entirely by your first-week feedback.

NEW
• A waystation now stands at the twentieth floor. The first realm was the only stretch with no rest before its gate. Forty floors on one breath was honest, but it was also forty floors on one breath. The climb above floor 50 is unchanged, and so is the gate itself.
• When you deepen your foundation between climbs, the next climb now shows exactly what you gained. Your Comprehension was always working but now you can see it.
• The strength readout explains its own math on hover, and heart-demon rerolls are now visible: the gate panel shows your count against the cap, and each reroll plays out during the tribulation instead of resolving silently.
• If the game ever fails to start, the next launch automatically boots in a safe graphics mode and logs what happened. If you hit a startup crash before this patch, it should now recover on its own, and if it doesn't, feel free to post it on the discussion board.

FIXED
• Resolving an event onto a floor with two open ways could double the fork display, hide the Climb and Auto buttons, and ignore number keys. One bug, three disguises, gone. (If a card ever sticks: Space always dismisses.)
• Auto-close finished fights now applies only while auto-climbing: rewards from fights you take manually always wait to be read.
• Pressing Esc in the expanded cast gallery no longer opens the pause menu on top of it.

ALSO
• The floor-one tutorial is now three screens and tells the truth about the road ahead.
• The "?" guide gained a glyph legend, and every crossroads now carries a reminder: the way not taken closes.

Thanks for climbing, and keep the reports coming!

Something on the stairs Someone has been waiting at the top of the tower for a very long time, and he has started coming down. If you'd met the same law fragment five climbs running, that's fixed. Balance: the…Game update30 Aug 2026Rebalancing UpdateThe climb Bands above the second no longer get easier as you climb them. This was the big one. Every band except the first had a single flat difficulty ramp inside it, so foes near a band's gate hadn't kept pace with a cultivator who'd been gathering relics and strength all the way up. At the fourth realm, 91% of fights at the top of the band ended in a single blow. They now hold or sharpen as…
