Hello everyone!

This update finally finishes the window layout issue—properly this time.

Fixed: Window layout corruption after logging out

The previous update fixed part of this problem, but Mr. A, who wishes to remain anonymous, reported that something still wasn't right.

He was correct.

The remaining issue turned out to be surprisingly subtle.

When returning to the character selection screen and then entering the game again, Portalborn could sometimes record window measurements while the interface was still hidden. Those measurements were wrong—around one hundred pixels taller than they should have been—but they were saved as though they were your chosen layout.

From that point on, every launch rebuilt your interface using those incorrect values, causing windows to appear smaller than expected and leaving the empty gap many of you reported at the bottom of the screen.

Portalborn now refuses to read or save window measurements until the interface is actually visible.

In other words, temporary measurements taken while the game is still loading can no longer overwrite your saved layout.

That means incorrect measurements can no longer be recorded.

⚠️ If your layout is still incorrect

This update prevents the problem from happening again.

It cannot automatically repair layouts that were already saved incorrectly.

If your windows still open in the wrong positions or sizes, simply press the ⚙️ RESET UI button in the top toolbar once.

That clears the stored layout and rebuilds it correctly.

You'll need to arrange your windows again afterwards, but it only needs to be done once.

You can also double-click any window's title bar to reset just that individual window instead of the entire interface.

Why doesn't the game repair old layouts automatically?

I considered it.

The problem is that I can't reliably tell the difference between a corrupted layout and one you've deliberately arranged yourself.

If the game guessed wrong, it could throw away a layout you'd spent time setting up.

That seemed worse than asking you to press one button yourself.

Thank you

This issue has now gone through four separate rounds of investigation with help from Mr. A, who wishes to remain anonymous.

He noticed that closing the game with the X button behaved differently from logging out. He tested different window sizes, continued checking each attempted fix, and after every update came back with even more precise observations.

Every one of those details narrowed the search.

I genuinely don't think I would have found this without his persistence.

Thank you again.

Game update15 Sep 2026Portalborn — Text FixesHello again! A quick follow-up to yesterday's update. Two text problems, both promised within 24 hours, both now fixed. Skill descriptions Nine skills listed both their element and "physical damage" in the same description, which contradicted itself. Five of those were the skills that gained Earth or Wind yesterday; the other four have had the problem for a while and are fixed alongside them. T…In-game event14 Sep 2026Portalborn: Turn the TideHello everyone! This update is focused almost entirely on combat — how much damage you take, how long your abilities actually last, and how your skills interact with an enemy's turn. There are also a number of interface and reliability fixes along the way. This change list is quite a bit heavier than normal. Several changes required other systems to change with them, and things snowballed from…Community12 Sep 2026Portalborn Development UpdateHello everyone! Sorry for the lack of updates over the last few days. I’ve reached a point that a lot of developers eventually hit where I have to admit: “just fast enough” is no longer fast enough. As Portalborn has grown, it naturally takes more time to build, test, and verify changes. The biggest slowdown lately has been my automated Playwright test suite. Before I push builds live, those te…
