Portalborn — Workshop Portals in Chinese

Hello everyone!

Workshop portals were not appearing for players using Simplified Chinese.

The Workshop hub itself loaded correctly, but the list of available portals was missing entirely. This affected Steam subscriptions and locally imported Workshop content, and had been happening since roughly July 24th.

The issue was discovered after 白起 asked a Workshop author how to reach their content. From the player's side, nothing looked broken — the room was simply empty, with no indication that portals were supposed to be there.

This is now fixed. Workshop portals appear correctly in both English and Chinese.

The cause was an unfortunate interaction with an earlier localization improvement: the Chinese room description was replacing the dynamically generated portal list. Both languages now use the same generated content correctly.

One small note: Workshop realm titles will continue to appear exactly as their authors wrote them. I won't automatically translate creators' names or titles. Everything surrounding them — portal text, level ranges, headers, and other interface text — will use your selected language.

Thank you to 白起 and the Workshop author for bringing this to my attention, and I'm sorry this remained invisible for so long.

— TheHand

Game update15 Sep 2026Portalborn — Elements & Reactions in the Player GuideHello everyone! A smaller update, and a documentation one. The elemental system has been in the game for a while now with no explanation anywhere outside the patch notes it arrived in — and patch notes sink out of sight. So it now has a proper page in the Player Guide. The new page Elements & Reactions sits directly after Combat in the guide, and covers: How an element lingers on an enemy after…Game update15 Sep 2026Portalborn — Text FixesHello again! A quick follow-up to yesterday's update. Two text problems, both promised within 24 hours, both now fixed. Skill descriptions Nine skills listed both their element and "physical damage" in the same description, which contradicted itself. Five of those were the skills that gained Earth or Wind yesterday; the other four have had the problem for a while and are fixed alongside them. T…In-game event14 Sep 2026Portalborn: Turn the TideHello everyone! This update is focused almost entirely on combat — how much damage you take, how long your abilities actually last, and how your skills interact with an enemy's turn. There are also a number of interface and reliability fixes along the way. This change list is quite a bit heavier than normal. Several changes required other systems to change with them, and things snowballed from…
