In this update, we’ve focused on several areas that have received a lot of community feedback, including survival pacing, base production, multiplayer rewards, and display compatibility.

Balance Changes to Food Consumption and Crafting Costs

  • Food no longer drains passively over time. We hope this reduces the food pressure during long expeditions, building, and inventory management.

  • The repair material cost multiplier has been reduced from 50% to 35%, lowering the amount of materials required to maintain equipment.

  • Reduced the crafting costs of swords:

    • Copper Sword: Copper Ingots reduced from 15 to 12.

    • Tin Sword: Tin Ingots reduced from 20 to 16, and Bones reduced from 20 to 12.

    • Hematite Sword: Flame Cores reduced from 20 to 16.

  • Adjusted the durability of metal tools and weapons:

    • Tin Sword, Tin Axe, Tin Bow, Tin Hoe, and Tin Shovel durability increased to 300.

    • Hematite Sword, Hematite Axe, Red Iron Bow, Hematite Hoe, and Hematite Shovel durability increased to 400. Hematite Pickaxe durability increased to 450.

    • Copper Pickaxe durability increased to 200. Copper Hoe and Copper Shovel durability adjusted to 175.

  • Adjusted the prices of recovery items sold by Rohen:

    • Each Bandage purchase now provides 5 Bandages. The total price has been reduced from 600 to 500, lowering the price per Bandage from 200 to 100.

    • Each Compressed Biscuit purchase now provides 5 Biscuits. The total price remains 1,000, lowering the price per Biscuit from 1,000 to 200.

QoL Improvements

  • Workstations can now connect to storage boxes from one tile farther away. We’ve expanded the range from which Workstations automatically pull crafting materials by one tile in every direction and fixed the size and appearance of the range indicator. We hope this gives everyone more flexibility when laying out and managing their bases.

Multiplayer Skill Point Distribution

  • When donating items in multiplayer, non-host players now receive 100% of the Skill Points, up from 50%. All players in a multiplayer session will now receive the same full donation rewards.

Display and Performance Improvements

Based on your feedback, we’ve optimized the default graphics and display settings for different hardware configurations:

  • The game now automatically selects a graphics quality preset based on available graphics memory. Devices with 2 GB of graphics memory or less will use Medium quality, while other devices will use Ultra quality.

  • Low-VRAM devices will now default to Full Screen (Windowed). Existing exclusive fullscreen settings on these devices will also be migrated automatically to improve display compatibility.

  • VSync is now enabled by default on PC, with a target frame rate of 60 FPS for more stable visuals.

These changes are intended to address two issues:

  • Long black screens that may occur when switching display modes.

  • Stuttering on some netbooks when the default graphics settings are too demanding for their hardware.

We’ll continue monitoring performance across different hardware configurations and make further improvements based on your feedback.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where the jump animation of the neutral creature Fisheep could become stuck on its final frame.

Additional Notes

  • About story dialogue: You can select your preferred Dialogue Length in the game’s Options menu. A shorter Brief Dialogue mode is also available.

  • About finding more Copper Ore:We’ve received your feedback that ore can be difficult to find. Metal deposits are primarily found around the outer edges of forests and within cave biomes, so you may need to venture farther from your starting area to gather them. This update has reduced the crafting material requirements for metal equipment, and we’d like everyone to try these balance changes first. We’ll monitor their impact before deciding whether the distribution of mineral resources across the world also needs to be adjusted.

  • About the Hand Drill: With passive Food drain removed, the Hand Drill has returned to its Demo behavior and can once again continue producing minerals indefinitely while unattended. We understand how convenient this is, but it may also accelerate mineral acquisition significantly and allow players to complete the related progression too early. For this reason, the EA version prevented unattended production while the player was starving. For now, we’ve restored the Demo behavior and will monitor its impact on progression and resource balance before deciding whether further adjustments are needed.

While reviewing your feedback on Food consumption, mineral availability, production efficiency, and multiplayer rewards, we found that players have very different expectations for the game’s pacing. Some prefer a more relaxed experience focused on exploration and building, while others want greater survival pressure and a longer progression curve. The same set of rules can also feel very different in solo and multiplayer games.

A single set of universal balance values cannot fully accommodate all of these playstyles. We’re therefore increasing the development priority of Environment Settings, with the goal of letting players choose a pace that better suits their preferences and the number of people in their world. We’ll work to make this feature available as soon as possible.

This update targets a common controller and Steam Deck pain point: lining up a Portal on the map.
