What I've been up to this past month
It's been a busy one! I've been pushing hard across pretty much every part of the game at the same time. Art, code, design, and getting the word out.
On the art side I've been grinding out pixel art — first version of all team logos, card illustrations, and character art including a new NPC and a kid you can trade cards with. Also updated the capsule art to feature characters from the game.
Content-wise I added and balanced a bunch of new cards and coach mechanics.
New boss-coach abilities include:
Your opponent gets a point for every card you play.
A limit to your draw power every quarter.
A huge boost to a random defender in Q1 and Q3.
Also worked on the tactics system. Tactics are semi-consumable power ups for the matches.
Biggest new features was a Shootout mode (with actual rim detection and rewards) which is also available straight from the main menu to practice.
I also squashed a pretty long list of bugs. Text overflow, card sizing inconsistencies, scroll sensitivity, ultrawide screen support and screen shake triggering when it shouldn't to name a few.
On the marketing side I've been posting regularly on social, set up a YouTube channel, updated the Steam page and got an itch.io page up for the demo! Check it out here: https://frilli.itch.io/dribble-deck-demo
