Governors!

Big news! Tomorrow at 3pm CEST we’ll be releasing Kaiserpunk's new warfare update, Strategic Warfare. It’s been a long time in the making and now it’s finally time! Read further down for instructions on how to stay on your current version before the update rolls out.

For the past months we’ve covered most of the significant changes coming with the Warfare update. It’s a huge list, with several major systems, including AI, essentially ripped out and rebuilt from scratch. While this has been challenging and time-consuming work, it gives us a much stronger foundation moving forward and allows us to focus on other areas of the game in future updates.

Stay tuned for the full changelog tomorrow!

Important info about your save games

Given the extent of the overhauled systems, save games from the previous live version of Kaiserpunk will not be compatible with the new version of the game. This means that if you have ongoing sessions, your save won’t work once you’ve updated to the new version.Fear not, however! With the launch of the Warfare Update, we’ll make sure the old version remains available on an optional Steam branch, allowing you to finish what you’re doing first or continue your existing save games if you wish.

If you’re not familiar with how Steam branches work, don’t worry, it’s quite straightforward. If you want to stay on the current version, you can opt into this branch today. Go to Kaiserpunk in your steam library, right-click it and select Properties. Go to Game Versions & Betas and opt into the “previous_version” branch and you’re all set.

Dev Diary 24 - Before & After

To whet your appetite for Strategic Warfare, here are a few side-by-side comparisons showing some of these changes in action and how they are visualised in-game.

Before - The old Combat UI offered very few choices and not a lot of helpful information.

After - The new Frontline mechanic is an ongoing process where you can set tactical directives for your forces while you potentially also reinforce them to turn the tide of battle. You can also see all the variables that are currently impacting your progress on the battlefield.

Before - Units were limited to one per region and your only options for moving them around was to a neighboring region.

After - The new Unit system allows you to move divisions freely within your territory. You can merge them, split them up, or station multiple different divisions within the same region without limitations.

Before - All Military buildings had a very different UI compared to other production buildings and a single Military base would only support a single division on the world map.

After - New Production Panel for all Military buildings, offering you the same options and information as any other Production building. This is now also the updated UI for all Production buildings across the game. It’s more streamlined while also requiring far less micromanagement.

That’s all for today! Tomorrow is launch day, and we hope you’re all as excited as we are to jump in and take command. See you on the frontlines!

All the best,

- The Overseer Team

Game update31 Aug 2026Hotfix - 1.05.014Hey everyone, Got another hotfix for you today. We've been primarily focused on tracking and improving autosaves based on reports of autosave crashes, it continues to be illusive but we try and eliminate all potential causes we see examples of and will continue to monitor this. This hotfix does fix a bug that might impact autosave crashing, but it's far from the definitive fix. Any information…Game update21 Aug 2026Hotfix - 1.05.013Hey all, Got another hotfix for Strategic Warfare! We're continuing to follow up on pathfinding issues and still trying to figure out why some users are still getting crashes or freezes on their autosaves. It's proving increasingly illusive and we still have zero reproduction cases on our end. We keep following up on every case we come across to try and figure it out. If you encounter the autos…Game update18 Aug 2026Hotfix - 1.05.012Hi everyone, Thank you for sending in your fresh logs. While the issue is not yet fully pinpointed it did give us a very good direction. A number of fail safes were added into the save procedure to prevent freezes and/or crashes. Some code blocks were rearranged for the same reason. The big question is: does this completely prevent my game from crashing on save? . We still cannot give you a def…
