Second Update Coming Soon

Save the Red Box: Prologue · published 5 Aug 2026, 10:24 UTC

Hello everyone, the development process for Save the Red Box is progressing steadily. I know updates and announcements take a little longer, but i have a paid job and can dedicate my free time to this game.

I conduct various gameplay tests and i work not only on making the game fun, but also on making it feel good, so if there's a big change in the game, the player should really feel it.

To get straight to the point, in chaos mode, new traps are added, and the speed, number of shots, rotation speed, etc., of existing traps are increased, but visually, the player couldn't really feel like they were in Chaos mode; only a red filter appeared on the screen and red particles rained down. i realized this wasn't enough.

Now, in chaos mode, in addition to adding new traps and increasing the speed, number of shots, etc., of existing traps, a white flash explodes first, and a red smoke effect appears on the screen. Then, almost all objects on the screen turn completely black, except for diamonds, jump and dash orbs, checkpoints, and the finish portal. I haven't yet found a better way to distinguish traps from aids; the player shouldn't miss the jump/dash orb thinking they're approaching a trap, or mistake it for a jump/dash orb and headbutt it. Furthermore, the background music speeds up and becomes distorted.

I don't know when this update will be released, but please give me some time to release it as well as I can, and feel free to give any feedback.

Finally, for comparison, i'll include screenshots of both the old and new chaos mode:

Community28 Sep 2026Visual Update #1Hello everyone; the long-awaited moment has finally arrived, and we have completed the first phase of the visual update. Currently, you cannot access either the version featuring the visual update or the version shown in the screenshots i took; however, i plan to release the visual update for this version very soon as well. By the way, let me point out that this isn't everything—it's just the f…Community22 Sep 2026Announced RoadmapHello everyone. We haven't been visible for a while, but that doesn't mean there's a problem; on the contrary, it means we've been working hard — i'm simply only sharing noteworthy developments. I think we’ve clarified our roadmap now; i intentionally spaced things out a bit—partly because there’s no need to rush, and partly so we wouldn’t fall behind schedule if any unexpected issues arose—tho…Game update9 Sep 2026The Leaderboard Has Been FixedHello there. As you may recall, after the major update we released, the achievements and leaderboard weren't working as intended. I had already fixed the achievements, but i only realized the leaderboard was malfunctioning after the update went live; i have finally resolved that issue as well, so now your death count and completion time will be recorded when you finish the game. I invite you, t…
