Hello. I'm DD, a solo developer.
Once again, thank you to everyone who visited my booth during BIC.
I received far more feedback and support than I expected, and it gave me the courage and motivation to work even harder. Thanks to everyone who enjoyed Pathogen, the game made it into the TOP 5 in the BIC Game Design category, which gave me confidence in its potential.
At BIC, I mentioned that although the schedule was not finalized, I was planning to release the game around November this year.
However, in order to deliver more content and a more polished game, I have decided to postpone the release to Q1 of next year.
I made this decision because I want the Early Access version to offer a much larger amount of content and a more enjoyable experience than the current demo can show.
If you can wait a little longer, I will do my best to make sure the Early Access version is well worth the wait and much more fun to play.
Below are the details of this update.
To address a critical security issue found in the current demo as well as its steep learning curve, the amount of content available in the demo has been significantly reduced.
I sincerely apologize to players who have been enjoying the large amount of content available in the previous demo.
Most cards that appear in the demo will now belong to only 4 Gene Tags (synergies).
As a result, the large card pool previously previewed in earlier versions will be greatly reduced.
Rare card recipes will no longer be available in the demo.
Due to changes in the data structure, previously unlocked Mixing Experiment recipes will change.
To prevent errors during this update, your current run data will be reset.
Your user data will remain intact, and only the data for your current run will be reset.
If you would like to continue using the current version, I recommend not updating the game.
I will take greater care with future updates to prevent this kind of issue from happening again.
The tutorial flow and structure have been improved so that the basic rules of the game are easier to understand.
To prevent too many rules from being introduced at once early in the game, Gene Tags will now unlock gradually based on player level.
Cards with Gene Tags that have not yet been unlocked will not appear.
New tags and cards will be introduced gradually as you progress.
Tutorials explaining the following features have been added.
Mixing Experiment results
Card enhancement system
Tutorial stages have been changed so that cards requiring two or more sacrifices will not appear.
You can now hover over the following terms in card tooltips to view additional explanations.
Volatile
Health
The Mixing Experiment recipe UI has been improved to make recipes easier to check.
Recipes can now be viewed outside of a run.
Recipes are now displayed in an easier-to-read card format.
An option to simplify certain animations has been added to the settings.
You can skip the flying Essence and Health icon animations.
This allows the game to progress a little faster.
Several inconveniences during events have been improved.
Event reward buttons now appear only after all dialogue text has finished displaying.
Clicking the dialogue immediately displays all text currently being typed out.
You can now preview other cards related to a card's effect by holding the Shift key.
During tutorial stages, the text 'Pin to the Right' is displayed at the bottom of card tooltips.
The pinning feature can still be used in normal stages, but the guide text is hidden there to keep the UI clean.
Some economy values have been adjusted to make progression feel less restrictive.
The amount of Gold earned from victories has been slightly increased.
The purchase cost of the card removal item has been reduced.
10 → 5
The purchase cost of the card enhancement item has been reduced.
10 → 7
The Fusion system has been improved to make it easier to learn and use.
For cards whose recipes have been unlocked, selecting the material cards in the popup now lets you preview the Fusion result.
To help players learn the Fusion system gradually, Fusion recipes now unlock at player level 3.
Fusion items that have not yet been unlocked will not appear in shops or as story event rewards.
The following issues have been fixed.
Event data disappearing after saving and quitting during an event
Certain card effects making it impossible to continue the game
The deck occasionally not being saved after purchasing an item in the shop
The Early Access version is currently being developed with far more content and a wider variety of strategies than the demo.
Please join the official Discord and share your feedback or anything you feel could be improved. Your feedback will be actively considered in future updates.
Thank you.
