Star Trek: Outposts Unknown · published
Hi Captains, it’s Kip again - General Manager of Magic Fuel Games.
We just got back from Gamescom, where we showcased the mysterious planet of Neral!
The last planet you’ll explore in the X’Lehari System, Neral has three distinctive biomes (like Kourou and Daegus!). We don’t want to give too much of this planet away lest we spoil your surprise, but suffice to say this will be the most hostile environment in the game with challenges at every turn!
Star Trek is about an optimistic future, so how do we build and supply our research outposts without destroying the environment we came to explore?
Part of the process of harvesting biological material from the environment is understanding how to put it back. Each specimen will contain seeds to replant and regrow, so that after the mystery of the Tetryon Rift has been uncovered Starfleet’s impact on the natural environment will have been minimal.
From Polyalloy to Duranium, to Dutronic Chips and Memory Banks, Star Trek: Outposts Unknown has over 55 unique resources that must be researched, harvested, refined, combined, transported, and finally used in the various scientific endeavours your outposts require. That’s a lot of different coloured resource boxes!
In addition, your buildings will require various upkeeps to function. Ample access to water, power, and compute must be factored into the design of your outposts, as the various pipes and conduits required also take up space.
Juggling all of these resources and their logistics with the needs of your crew and the success of your mission will truly be a challenge fit for the Captain of the U.S.S. Resonant (hey - that’s you!) but you’ll also have various filters and UI screens to aid you in this task!
If you’ve looked at our store page, you may have noticed…
Our official list of in-game localization includes: English, French, Spanish, Latin American Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Simplified Chinese, Polish, and German!
While we can’t guarantee any further languages will be included, it would be helpful to know if you’d like one added!
A big point of feedback we've received is logistical difficulty. As players from all skill levels access our game, we want to make sure it's both challenging for fans of survival-city builder games, and accessible for players who are new to the genre.
Lastly, we’re in-person with other great Star Trek games at Movie Park Germany to celebrate the amazing milestone of Star Trek’s 60th anniversary. As a small preview, our game is available to be played early by anyone attending! Live Long And Prosper. 🖖
Until then, don’t forget to Wishlist our game on Steam and join our Discord!
