Finally! After a hellish summer of hard work, the first demo build is public!
I could post a massive changelog of implemented systems and bug fixes, but instead I'm going to sum up what the demo contains and highlight some of its features.
Demo content:
Full first level.
3 playable classes.
A limited set of rooms, items, NPCs, and enemies.
An in-depth tutorial.
Some new features:
Music: The game now has a layered music system that plays different tracks depending on the game context, so you're not always hearing the same thing. The soundtrack is composed by Daniel Patrick Swain.
Sound: A full set of handcrafted SFX, all synthesized and recorded specifically for the game.
Modding: A raw modding tool that allows players to tweak parameters at will. It's still very W.I.P. and quite hidden, but the game has been built from the ground up with modding in mind.
New characters, including the boss and the Enforcer.
Feedback & Telemetry: I've made some utilities to receive direct feedback and collect some stats for balancing. All collected data is anonymous. Hopefully, this will help me make the game better!
Performance fixes: The game now runs better on lower-end hardware and lower settings. I still need more hardware data before updating the official requirements, though.
Reviewed texts and Spanish localization (by Rocío Solares Saínz): The game can now be played in Spanish too. I'm aiming to add more languages in the future. I'm aiming to add more languages in the future, but proper localization takes time and budget.
And an infinite amount of bug fixes and balance tweaks.
I hope this demo gives you a better idea of what the game is becoming, and that I can get some valuable feedback from players around the world to keep improving it.
Thank you all, and I hope you like it!
Cheers!
Enrique
