Ragdoll Physics Experiments · published · build 23399537
The Facility has been updated. Whether that's a good thing remains to be seen.
We've just released one of our biggest updates yet for the RMF's Ragdoll Physics Experiments demo!
Over the past few months, we've been working on pretty much every aspect of the game. We've improved the visuals, redesigned challenges, introduced new systems, added more things to discover and fixed a frankly unreasonable number of problems.
If you've played the demo before, there's plenty worth coming back for. And if you haven't, now's a great time to enter the Facility.
The updated demo is available to play for free here on Steam!
We've upgraded the game to Unreal Engine 5.8, bringing some significant visual improvements throughout the Facility.
We've also spent a lot of time improving how the game looks at different graphics settings, particularly Medium, which now offers a much better visual experience.
Alongside this, we've continued improving the lighting, materials and environments, adding more detail to the Facility and generally making the whole place look considerably more expensive than its health and safety budget would suggest.
You can now create and manage three separate saves using Slots A, B and C.
We've also added the ability to delete saves directly from the game and made numerous improvements to the checkpoint and save systems.
Your face and size selections in the Facial Calibration Chamber are now properly remembered too. The Facility considers this a remarkable technological achievement.
We've made some substantial changes to the Bowling Ball and Cannon challenge rooms.
These changes are designed to make the mechanics easier to understand, improve the introduction to the game's physics systems and make the challenges more accessible without removing the opportunity for complete chaos.
We've also stopped players from spawning cannons inside other objects.
We appreciate this may be disappointing to some of you.
We've added collectible RPX Cola bottles throughout the Ragdoll Recommissioning Area.
There are now more reasons to explore the Facility, look around corners and investigate things that probably shouldn't be investigated.
We've started introducing dedicated Play Gym areas where you can experiment with physics objects outside the normal challenge rooms.
These are still experimental, but they provide an opportunity to try things out, play with the physics and discover new ways to make a complete mess.
We've updated the ending of the demo, introducing the mysterious M.G.F.N. Power Cores.
These form an important part of the wider game progression and offer a little glimpse of what's coming as the Facility continues to expand.
No, we're not going to explain what M.G.F.N. stands for.
Even the loading screen has been given a complete overhaul.
We've created a new Facility-themed loading screen featuring looping footage from our original Rate My Funeral ragdoll experiments, along with various other little details.
Because apparently even waiting for a game to load needs to be an experiment.
We've also started working on Steam Deck compatibility.
This is still experimental, and there are some control issues to resolve, but we're making progress towards getting the game working properly on handheld devices.
We've continued adding Easter eggs, environmental details and little surprises throughout the demo.
We've also added more of the toast names submitted by our Discord community. Thank you to everyone who has contributed!
And behind the scenes, we've been making improvements to performance, physics, collisions, usability and stability.
