A tutorial level walks you through the controls and the basics for both sides. It is offered once on your first start and is available from the main menu at any time after that. You pick your side at a character select with rotating 3D previews, using the mouse, arrow keys, D-pad or stick; a panel then explains your role's HUD with pictures.
In the tutorial a step card at the bottom right guides you through the stations, and a board at every station says what is practised there. Props learn disguising, aligning with the handle, nervousness on two plates, the skill check, the tell-tale noise and changing back; Hunters practise picking up, drawing the weapon, reloading and ammo, with the assault rifle, shotgun or sniper rifle. At the end you can repeat, play the other side or return to the menu.
Skill check: At full nervousness a Prop is no longer revealed straight away. A short skill check on the space bar can fend the reveal off. A hit noticeably calms the Prop, a hit in the middle far more. The host sets how fast the needle spins from the lobby.
Tell-tale noise: Disguised Props make a noise at 25, 50 and 75 nervousness. With R (controller: right stick, rebindable in the options) it can also be triggered on purpose. Near a Hunter that earns nervousness, which lasts as long as it does after a Hunter looks away. The key appears in the Prop's key hints, and its frame fills up orange during the 10 second cooldown.
Obstacle course in the lobby: A timed course with an on-screen stopwatch, a board showing the best times of the current lobby, and two new achievements for fast runs. A run only counts once every section has been passed; running back through the start aborts it. There is a start signal and a finish fanfare for everyone nearby, plus a quiet ticking and a fail sting just for you.
Starting the match from the lobby now plays the start cue for everyone, followed by ticking until the level changes.
Scenery and terrain on all maps now run on Nanite, and characters cast one combined shadow instead of one per body part. Both ease the frame rate, especially when several players stand close together.
Disguised Props no longer make footstep sounds. Only the landing after a jump or fall is audible.
Players joining the lobby no longer stack on top of each other; everyone gets a free spawn spot.
The reveal countdown now sits above the bars instead of between them and no longer squeezes them.
The wall displays in the lobby no longer glare.
Minor balance adjustments.
Hunters no longer hurt each other, and hits on Hunters no longer count as misses.
Hits on Hunters no longer spray blood.
The Hunter no longer casts a doubled shadow.
Props now actually get credit for downing a Hunter, and an "unseen" round only counts if you really went unnoticed.
