Selquara – The Garden Grows Thorns

One important thing first: Selquara is not a traditional hero character walking around the battlefield. Instead, she changes the direction of the entire garden. Her focus is clearly on Thorn Towers, strong defensive growth, and a network that becomes increasingly unpleasant for attackers the further it spreads.

Since you cannot simply select your creatures in Xenogarden and send them after individual enemies, the way you build your colony plays a much larger role.

Where do you expand your Synaptic Tissue?
Which areas do you connect first?
And where should your Thorn Towers stand to hold back the next wave for as long as possible?

That is where Selquara comes in.

Under her influence, Thorn Towers become an even more important part of your defenses. They protect the Heart, control important areas of the map, and give your creatures time to react to invading enemies on their own.

The basic idea is not to control one especially powerful character.

Instead, you build a living system that spreads, produces, and defends itself.

Or, to put it more simply:

More thorns. Stronger towers. And a garden you probably should not enter.

Visually, Selquara should immediately show what she represents. Magenta crystal thorns, dark vines, and glowing green bio-energy combine something beautiful with something that probably does not want to be touched.

Her avatar is the visible face of this aspect of the swarm. Its body is formed from living plant armor, twisting vines, and large crystal thorns, directly reflecting Selquara’s theme.

Alongside this post, I am also sharing a hand-drawn pencil sketch of her avatar. It offers a small look at how the design develops from the original idea toward its later appearance in the game.

In a future post, I want to take a closer look at Selquara’s abilities, evolutions, and especially the upgrades available for her Thorn Towers.

The garden grows.
And Selquara makes sure cutting it back will hurt.

The footage comes directly from the current playable build and shows colony growth, assimilation, combat, abilities and the living battlefield in action. A little look behind the vines Part of the footage was actually captured by the same AI agent that…Community15 Aug 2026Auralis – The Crystal ChorusWhere Selquara protects her garden with thorns and Veyra subjects everything to the hunger of her brood, Auralis represents something different: Order. Resonance. Perfect growth. Her crystals are neither ordinary minerals nor traditional ice magic. They are living tissue – structures grown by the hive itself, transforming biological matter into something almost unnatural: hard, precise, and str…
