Hello everyone,
I am a solo indie developer from Korea, and I would like to sincerely thank everyone who purchased Ship of the Line or showed interest in the game.
To be honest, I was very surprised by the support on launch day. As an unknown solo developer releasing my first Steam game, seeing players discover the game, purchase it, leave feedback, and discuss its future means a great deal to me.
Ship of the Line was inspired by hex-and-counter wargames, historical naval warfare, and the image of great sailing warships crossing the ocean and firing broadsides in battle. I always wanted to make a game where players could command fleets like that directly. Although the game is still small, I am proud that I was able to build a working real-time naval combat system focused on wind, maneuvering, formations, and cannon fire.
From here, I want to continue developing the game together with the community through Early Access.
The first major goal is the introduction of a campaign mode.
I plan to begin with the English Channel and gradually expand toward wider theaters such as the Mediterranean. The campaign system is planned to include features such as port blockades, convoy escort missions, port development, shipbuilding, research, admirals, vice-admirals, officers, and eventually abilities for roles such as gunnery officers and boatswains.
My long-term goal is to make Ship of the Line into a naval warfare game that players can enjoy not only as a single battle simulator, but also as a fleet-building campaign experience where your ships, officers, and crews grow over time.
I hope to introduce the first version of this campaign content during this summer.
Once again, thank you very much for your support, feedback, and encouragement. I will keep working on the game step by step and will continue sharing development updates with you.
Thank you, The developer of Ship of the Line
