... 1 month later, here I am! With a particularly stacked up batch of improvements to make up for it (I hope). I'm was finally able to get a substantial influx of feedback going (like with the last Update, but even more so now), and needless to say that has helped a lot to point me to the next item of the never-ending "TODO" list - which just a while ago was completely empty... Shout out to both QuanticFlux, luckynumchris (from PlaytestQuest). Hopefully an even bigger wave of it should come soon as we're about to (finally) launch our prologue for good, Endless Tactics: Trial Run.

CHANGES

  • ALL Turrets can now attack Omnidirectionally! (Diagonals included.) A brand new Attack Mode has been added specifically for this, alongside adjustments to several Artifacts to make use of it as well. Based on feedback from QuanticFlux's LIVE (amongst many of the other changes).

  • SELKHET (Operation 1) Brand New Mechanic! Based on feedback, I decided to kill two birds with one stone: further improve Selkhet's terrain visuals while also giving it a much more thematic mechanic - Fallen Meteorites. They now spawn both at the start of the Operation and at every Meteorite Shower impact zone (instead of just random drops). Destroy them to obtain guaranteed loot! (Placeholder art for now; done/edited by yours truly ;) ) ... Meteorite Shower is now also the only Event capable of spawning brand new Obstacles.

  • MAJOR Rework & Improvements to Apex & Territorial Enemy AI! Much smarter, much more consistent, and far less prone to questionable decisions (Apex Enemies won't randomly decide to attack your Base anymore... lol).

  • Cleansing Corrupted Tiles now grants Corrupted Cores! (1 + Escalation bonus.)

  • More Dynamic Difficulty for Trial Run: If any of your Stations get destroyed, they'll now be automatically repaired for free during the 2nd Airdrop, complete with new lore-friendly dialogue. Naturally, it only triggers if you've actually lost a Station.

  • MAJOR Guide Menu Rework! Much better layout, readability, and overall navigation.

  • Pause Menu Improvements: Now displays every Stat alongside its proper name. A brand new Stats Guide entry has been added as well.

  • UNIFIED Knockback Indication! Knockback is now always displayed directly on the map, alongside improved readability. The arrow will also dynamically turn blue whenever a Unit would be knocked into Water (based on feedback from luckynumchris, via PlaytestQuest).

  • Brand New "Current Selection Mode" HUD Indicator.

  • Added Tooltips to Text! Gold, Fuel, and Corrupted Cores now feature contextual tooltips. More keyword-related ones will likely come in future updates.

  • Animated Tiles Overlay Accessibility Option.

  • Major Improvements to CONTROLS Menu (Once Again!):

    1. Even cleaner input naming ("LB" instead of "Xbox LB", etc.), dynamically adapting to the connected controller.

    2. Improved glyph support for Nintendo Switch and several PC Gamepads, alongside fixes for missing actions.

  • Minor Codex Menu Rework: Vertical tabs now make much better use of the available layout space.

  • MAJOR Improvements to Unit Modifiers! Better weighting, no more over-granting nor over-removing Stats.

  • Smarter Smart-Selection & Hovering.

  • Units Refreshed-on-Wave Indicator: Added a new popup notification alongside dynamic SFX.

  • Improved "About to Blow Up" Indication for both Objects and Nests.

  • Confirmation Prompt for Friendly Fire: Shown only the first time during each Operation. Confirming it enables Friendly Fire for the remainder of that Operation.

  • MAJOR Optimizations to the Upgrades Menu! Mostly targeting the new shaders and animated background. Average FPS has roughly doubled on my system (300 -> 600 FPS).

  • HUGE Cleanup to UI Themes! Previously split across multiple massive theme files with plenty of redundant sprites. Everything has now been neatly consolidated into a single theme, resulting in better loading times, performance, and a smaller game size overall.

  • The game now uses DirectX 12 whenever available, fixing a rare Windows screen-recording issue.

  • Improved General Window & Cursor Focus Logic.

  • Reworked Resource Icons: Gold, Fuel, and Corrupted Cores.

  • Brand New Typewriter Effect for ALL dialogue and text. Much smoother overall.

  • TONS of Text Corrections & Clarity Improvements.

  • Major Improvements to Global Ranking Statistics:

    1. Proper loading state.

    2. New loading animations.

  • TONS of Balance Changes, Bug Fixes (especially regarding Cyclic Passives), and countless general QOL improvements based on player feedback.

... That's all (well, most of it; as there's a whole lot of stuff hidden under items like "TONS of Balance Changes, Bug Fixes " and others). Thanks all other reviewers from PlaytestQuest who took their time to give us even more valuable feedback. And of course, like always, I went ahead and addressed/fixed every single point of complaint, suggestion, and criticism from all of the mentioned places ;) And feel free to join in, as feedback is always highly appreciated!

HIGHLIGHTS

New Live by QuanticFlux - one of the first ones to cover Endless Tactics - lots of useful feedback, every single point addressed already, shortly after the stream! (again lol)

As always, most of the feedback gathered and addressed from our Reddit.
