The demo is out — and here is what comes next

Play the first three realms

The Wardspire demo is live: Midgard, Alfheim and Vanaheim, twenty waves each, on Normal.
The Forge comes with it - every victory pays Glory, and what you unlock stays unlocked
between runs. Windows and Linux.

There is no time limit and nothing gets wiped. Where something belongs to the full version,
the game says so plainly instead of walking you into a dead end.

A god at your back

Beat a world boss for the first time and you earn a Blót, an offering. Spend it in the Forge
to consecrate the favor of a god - an ability you call down in the middle of a run, on its
own cooldown.

The demo lets you consecrate one of them: Eir's Watch, a short window in which enemies that
slip past cost you no lives. Two worlds pay for it, so you can walk into Vanaheim with a god
at your back. Mjolnir Throw, Skadi's Hunting Ground and Odin's Gaze are there to look at -
those belong to the full game.

What the demo is really testing

Wardspire is built around one idea: no tower answers everything. Arrows glance off armor,
fliers cross straight over your ballistae, and the Völva heals her escort while you shoot at
it. The demo is where that idea meets actual players - if a wave feels unfair rather than
unsolved, we want to hear it. There is a "Report a bug" entry in the pause menu that goes
straight to the developer.

Six languages, and an honest note about two of them

German, English, French, Spanish, Russian and Simplified Chinese. Russian and Chinese have
just been through a native speaker; the newest texts have not caught up yet, and the game
tells you so when you switch instead of letting you find out.

What comes next

Work already under way, once the demo has had its first round of feedback:

  • The other three gods - Thor's hammer down the path, Skadi's storm over a stretch of
it, Odin's mark on whatever you want dead first.
  • Wave choice - before each wave you pick one of two: an armored wave that pays
double gold, or a fast one at the usual price.
  • Waves that answer your style - keep spamming one kind of tower and you will start
seeing enemies built to walk through it.
  • An adversary with a name and a face - someone who tells you what he is sending
    before he sends it.

This is a plan, not a promise: order and scope can still change. What is actually finished
is listed on the website.

a nudge when the full game lands in November, the wishlist button is right up there.
