Wardspire 0.12.0 - The waves answer back
Demo build, 14 September 2026 - Windows and Linux.
This demo covers the first three worlds - Midgard, Alfheim and Vanaheim - on Normal difficulty. Your progress is kept between sessions.

New
- Wave choice. "Start wave" now lays two cards on the field: the wave as the map intends it, or the same wave with a twist and more gold per kill - Iron Wall, Onslaught, Wrath of the Sky or Overwhelm, depending on what the wave contains. Boss waves offer no choice. Tick "Remember for the whole run" on a card and the button starts that side directly; right-click the button to choose again.
- The waves answer your style. Lean on a single element - fire, frost, lightning or poison - for a few waves in a row, and the Jarl from the prologue sends more of what shrugs it off. He says so, and names what he sends; the wave preview marks the extra enemies with "+N". Mixed damage never triggers him. Not on Midgard, and not before wave 10.
- Sacrifice. Mid-wave, a tower can be destroyed on the spot to unleash its stored power in its own range - damage scales with the gold you put into it and ignores armor. No gold back. The button appears in the tower panel only while a wave is running.
- The Forge is organised into branches. Global upgrades are now Sharpness (all towers) and the Blessing of the Allfather (gold, lives, cheaper building, firmer frost, bargaining); the Armory, Runes and Favor tabs sit beside them.

Changed
- Glory prices are round numbers now. Every tower unlock costs 50 Glory - one first victory pays for exactly one - and Sharpness, Blessing and Favor upgrades follow simple price lists per level.
- Selling and sacrificing ask twice. The first click turns the button red, the second does it. No more towers lost to a slip of the mouse.
- A selected tower glows along its outline instead of sitting in a yellow box, and its upgrade level shows as silver stars. The old specialisation triangle is gone - the tower panel tells you the specialisation.
- "Flying" target priority only appears on towers that can hit flyers. Others skip it when you cycle priorities.
- Tooltips are more opaque and stay readable over the busy field.
- The end-of-run statistics put their heading in the table corner, so the panel no longer runs off the bottom of the screen with many towers.
- The Jarl explains himself. A line in the prologue says why the Jarl keeps speaking on Midgard after his defeat.

Fixed
- Divine favor cooldowns now survive saving and loading. A favor cast before you saved used to be ready again the moment you loaded.
- Forge action links ("Improve / Unlock (N Glory)") line up at the same edge instead of zig-zagging.
- The wave-choice checkbox was invisible on the dark card and its label slid behind the box on hover.
