Nations League + European Cup 2028

There is a new dedicated European Cup 2028 event. It must be simulated alongside the Nations League to determine the correct seeding for the qualifiers. Without the Nations League, the event will not work at all. The eight teams that reach the quarter-finals of the Nations League will be placed in Pot 1, but the top four will be guaranteed places in the smaller groups of the European Cup qualifiers.

This dedicated event supports the latest complex rules for reserve host slots. The playoff format, finals seeding, and qualification rules will automatically adjust based on the number of reserve host slots used.

In the first season (2030), the Nations League will always uses the 2026-27 UEFA Nations League draw.

World Nations League

The league has a new format. It features 224 teams - 211 national teams + 11 associated members, and 2 guests - split into seven 32-team divisions. Group winners promote and bottom losers relegate. There are promotion/relegation playoffs between 2nd and 3rd-place finishers. League A finishes with a Round of 16 knockout to crown the champion.

Steam App Becomes Version 1

After years of regular updates, the Steam version of Forever World Cup Simulator is becoming Version 1 — a more stable edition. It has now implemented the features that were originally planned, along with many additional suggestions from our users.

Starting with this update, the Steam app is forking from the main web version. This allows the Steam edition to focus on stability, while the main website continues active development without worrying about backward compatibility with the Steam version.

The Steam version will continue to receive critical bug fixes and updates going forward.

Steam owners can now access a dedicated Version 1 website at v1.simcups.com.

This site is provided as a bonus for Steam users and will stay aligned with the stable Version 1 branch, so future upgrades on that site should not break compatibility with the Steam app.

Important Note:

In a few days, Steam accounts will no longer be able to log in to the main site (simcups.com). Please back up your saves and move your progress to v1.simcups.com before then.

Thank you for your continued support. This new implementation lets me keep the Steam version stable, while focusing future development on the evolving web version.
