Goodly Trials update notes:
Combat, Content & Progression

This week’s update make combat prettier and easier to read, refreshes a wide range of units, adds unlockable leaders and 2 new items.

Combat

  • Added a varied pool of death animations, including special deaths for particularly powerful hits.

  • Improved movement, stun, hit and death timing so animations remain synchronized with combat.

  • Added persistent visual effects for statuses such as Tailwind and Inspired.

  • Added distinct floating indicators for health damage, shields, blocks and deaths.

  • Improved projectile beams, hit effects and formation visuals.

  • Reworked Ballistic: a successful hit now pierces the next unit for 50% of the damage actually dealt.

New and updated content

  • Added Pious Chant to Aldric’s Goodly Knight kit.

  • Added Rod of Many Tales and Bian of the Eagle, with follow-up balance and artwork improvements.

  • Updated several leaders with new names and artwork.

  • Revised a broad selection of units, starters, traits, spells and items, including:

    • Stone-Heeding

    • Iron Knuckles

    • Martyr

    • Staff gear

    • Cade, Squire, Archer, Keth, Grim and Kip and more!

Balance

  • Stone-Heeding now grants the entire team +1 ALL while the army avoids RNG-heavy units.

  • Build/Burst is now limited to Hard, Ranked and Multiplayer modes. It begins at 0% in week one and increases by 10% each week.

  • Reduced the maximum number of followers from 7 to 6.

  • Made Martyr available earlier and at a lower cost.

  • Reworked Iron Knuckles into an empty-hands combat trinket.

  • Adjusted the balance of several leaders, units, spells, traits and pieces of gear.

Progression and game modes

  • Multiplayer is now available from the beginning.

  • Vows begin earlier in progression.

  • Expanded the unlock path for Unfair difficulty.

  • Extended ranked progression to a ranked rating of 2000.

  • Week 12 bosses now adhere to ranked rating requirements.

Interface and onboarding

  • Simplified the start screen and reduced unnecessary tooltips.

  • Added clearer icons for formations, flanking and backline mechanics.

  • Gold is now displayed with a compact G notation.

  • Inspecting a unit no longer reveals information hidden by scouted-shop fog.

  • Improved the pacing of training battles so they advance according to actual hits rather than fixed health pauses.
