One feature this week that has been on the list for a while: a proper difficulty setup screen. You can now tune how the game plays before you start a run.

Choosing how hard you want it

When you start a new game, there's now a playstyle button on the setup screen. It opens a panel where you pick two things: a playstyle, and a pace. The playstyle controls how aggressively the city responds to you how often events fire, how long between them, and how hard they hit.

Playstyle

Feel

The Neighborhood

Long grace periods. Rivals hold back, police look away. Good for learning the map and the systems.

The Precinct

Classic push-and-breathe rhythm. Pressure builds, eases, builds again. The default.

The Task Force

Coordinated pressure. Raids come faster, rivals test you more often. For veterans.

The Wire

No grace. No mercy. Full heat from the first game day. Experts only.

The pace controls when threats unlock- how long your grace period is and how quickly the city escalates.

1 game day = 24 real minutes. The clock stops when you pause; there's no fast-forward.You can also toggle individual threat categories off entirely: Rival Gangs, Local Police, or FBI Task Force. If you want a run with no federal heat at all, just disable it. The choice sticks for the whole run.All of this is set before you start. It's saved with the game, so a loaded save always runs at the difficulty you picked, not the default.

Community11 Sep 2026Betrayals, muggings, arrests: one system runs the falloutOne system for drama We kept deepening what happens after a crew member turns on you, but the real work this cycle was under the surface. Every dramatic beat in the game used to be its own tangle of special-case code. A betrayal did one thing, a mugging another, heat rose from a dozen different corners, and each new twist meant more wiring bolted on next to the last. We replaced that with a sha…Community7 Sep 2026The comedown: your crew survives a fight, then acts like they survived a fightQuick one this week, but it is one of those changes you feel in every single firefight. Until now, combat had a tell that broke the illusion. A gang member would trade shots with a rival, win, and then a half second later go right back to strolling the block like nothing happened. Functionally correct. Emotionally wrong. Nobody who just got shot at goes straight back to whistling. So we fixed t…Community11 Aug 2026Dev Update - The Crew PanelThe Crew panel: see what your crew is doing and why Hey everyone, This one is about visibility. The game has always had a lot going on under the hood. Your crew members have priorities, plans, and conditions that gate what they can do. Until now, most of that was invisible. You'd look at a gang member and see "Idle" and have no idea whether that meant nothing was set up, or they'd just failed s…
