The quality of what AI generates keeps getting better. It shows no sign of stopping.
Protection for creators cannot keep up with the speed of technological progress. Legally, socially, emotionally. That's an undeniable reality.
What Can I Do?
I'm not someone who makes laws. I'm not someone who develops the technology. I don't have great influence.
But as someone who has lived through joy, anger, sorrow, and delight inside the worlds creators made, I wanted to do something. I didn't want to just sit and watch.
So I thought: maybe I could make something people could talk about, even a little.
Even if I can't solve it, maybe I can start a conversation.
The Form of a Game
I could have written an essay. I could have made a video. But I chose a game.
Games make you experience things. Not just read, but go through them. Make choices, accept the results, and discover your own thoughts in the process.
"If AI can replace your work, what will you do?" There was no better form than a game for asking that question. You have to be placed in that situation yourself.
A Game That Gives No Answer
There was one thing I decided from the beginning. This game would not give an answer.
It doesn't say "AI is bad" or "AI is good." It doesn't take either side.
Instead, it shows people in different positions and lets the player think for themselves. It can be uncomfortable, because it doesn't hand you an answer.
But that's reality. In reality, no one gives us the answer either.
A Small Hope
If someone who plays this game talks about AI with someone nearby.
It doesn't matter whether they agree or disagree. Just talking. Listening to what the other person thinks. That alone is enough.
Something to talk about. I hope this game can at least be that.
