Ossu!

It’s no secret that one of the biggest inspirations for JDM was the Initial D franchise. The story of Takumi and friends, the dramatic touge downhill races and the overall focus on drifting on tight corners, became the fuel for our creative process. We grew up watching the show or reading the manga, dreaming of a video game that could provide the same emotions but in a playable format.  Years later, in 2025,  we released JDM and gathered a wonderful community of players around the game, who shared our sentiment and love for Japan, Japanese cars and street racing in general. It was a dream come true for us but it also still felt somewhat incomplete - it lacked a personal agency, the chaos of two drivers not really knowing what the other would do speeding down a steep mountain pass. Plainly said, it lacked multiplayer, which became our next big milestone. With the release of the open world multiplayer we made the first step towards fulfilling that goal and now we’re here to make the second.Multiplayer events are coming to JDM on PC first! Very soon you will have the opportunity to race against other players on predefined tracks: from uphill or downhill 1 vs 1 touge drift races on Guntama skylines, to a grip race on highways around the prefecture - everyone will find something for themselves! The experience, similar to one depicted in the trailer above, will now be at your fingertips. Challenging your friends to prove who is a better drifter or training to make the most perfect tandem run possible - it will all be available for you! We’ve been having a blast racing each other for fun, for kudos points or for bragging rights in the office. We hope you will join us in our excitement and soon we will see each other on Guntama roads!

Multiplayer Game Modes - details

We’re not ready to disclose all the details just yet, however expect a variety of races and challenges across Guntama - from your usual ‘reach the finish line first’ races to fighting for the best drift scores. From 8 player lobbies to 1 vs. 1 personal challenges. We will be sharing more details very, very soon so keep an eye out on upcoming devlogs and social media posts. With the release of multiplayer events on PC, our next goal is to bring the full multiplayer experience to console platforms. We are almost ready with it, but we still need a few weeks to polish the game modes and test it out properly. We promise that this will not be a long wait! Thank you for your patience and see you in-game!

As always we invite everyone to join our Discord server, where you can talk to us directly and find other like-minded car enthusiasts playing JDM. Let’s Drift Together! The Gaming Factory Team
