The long awaited multiplayer update is live now for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S!
The multiplayer update brings all of the features previously launched on PC, including open world freeroaming and various competitive events. The update also launches with a full cross platform connectivity, allowing all JDM fans to play together regardless of their platform of choice!
Players on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S will now be able to join open lobbies or create private rooms for up to 8 players. There are two ways to initiate a multiplayer session: select a race directly from the Main menu of the game, or hop in through the in-game smartphone option.
While in a multiplayer session, players will see new events on the world map. Driving to one will begin a vote for all of the players in the room to opt in. These races are primarily divided into grip (first on the finish line wins) and drift races (the player who scores most points wins).
Players will also be able to commence one-on-one touge challenges when inspecting other player profiles in the open world.
The 15 events already available for PC are expanded with the addition of the Tofuna Downhill and Uphill races, increasing the number of events to 17. This update also rolls out for PC players.
Based on your feedback we have rebalanced the economy in the game. We’ve increased money rewards by 30% gained by completing any single player or multiplayer event. We’ve also doubled the EXP rewards counting towards car and player reputations. The changes made are meant to hasten the process of obtaining new cars and unlocking tuning options, reducing the necessary grind to experience different cars and their potential setups.
Alongside this update we’re also launching a new free car, the FSO Polonez. A Polish classic and a truly unique mark on Polish automotive history. It’s our homage to the car and a way to preserve the memory of it in the global culture.
It launches today on all platforms and will come with three very distinct body kits: the rally variant, the bousouzoku variant and the “barnyard tuning” aesthetics variant.
This update also aligns all the game versions with some bug fixes already introduced on PC now rolling out for console as well.
The change list for consoles include:
The next step for the team is to bring the livery system to the game, allowing players to create unique designs, making their cars stand out from the crowd. The system is still under development, but it’s rapidly nearing completion and we will have more information on its details very soon!
This update brings all game versions on par with each other. Thank you for all the patience you have given us to roll out the changes across all platforms. We hope you will jump into the game and drive around Guntama with friends, sharing screenshots and videos of cruising around in the sunset, as well as competing for the best scores.
As always, you can find other JDM fans on our official Discord server.
