Gideon Dunne-Wright is stepping down.
Everyone else is stepping over someone.
Eleven contenders have entered the succession contest: nine approved
claimants, you as the final official entrant, and one rival who broke in and
was allowed to stay because the company admired the initiative.
The Succession Update tightens Downer Management around its strongest
idea: build a department, script your formation, survive the climb, and beat
the other bosses for control of the company.
Full-Roster Boss Battles
Ordinary encounters remain focused 3v3 fights. Building bosses now bring their
entire department roster: three active employees and three reserves against
your full six.
After rounds 2 and 4, both bosses receive a formal Line Change. The opposing
boss protects their lineup first. You may then make one free active/reserve
swap or hold your formation. Knockout replacements remain automatic, and the
fight does not end until one complete roster is down.
Your reserves are no longer just insurance. They are part of the plan.
A Focused Succession Campaign
The required campaign is now a 32-floor, choice-driven climb through Gideon's
company. Choose one building at each stage, face its department, and live with
the roster, budget, rooms, rewards, and boss that choice brings.
The Form 3NQ paperwork still exists because this company cannot resist a form.
It is no longer the point of the story. The point is taking the company.
Clearer Management
Employees now use four meaningful combat stats: Power, Guard, Speed, and
Clarity. Every base department has a tighter six-skill pool. Employees can
know up to five skills and equip three scripts through their TOP, MIDDLE, and
BOTTOM formation positions.
Base combat now has three clear management verbs:
Reassign changes an employee's position and therefore their active script.
Tag replaces an active employee with a reserve.
Micromanage spends persistent Clout to put the boss on the floor.
Reassign and Tag spend per-fight Authority. Micromanage spends Clout. Call Out,
combat Job Offers, and leftover directive-card terminology have been removed
from the base combat flow.
Better Buildings And Better Victories
Prep rooms are now optional. Known rooms disclose their mechanical outcome,
closed doors remain a gamble, and the elevator is always available. The
pre-fight briefing is free, so payroll is not committed until you choose to
start the battle.
The post-battle chain has also been rebuilt. Performance review, boss spoils,
casualties, payroll, building rewards, and campaign progress now arrive as a
clear victory sequence instead of competing on one crowded report.
Weekend Vigilante Integration Pass
Weekend Vigilante remains its own mode, but its connection to the base game is
now much cleaner:
The first Sunday is shorter and no longer inserts an over-scaled filler fight.
Boss hits retain a visible damage floor against Sunday bosses.
Broadcast combat uses the portrait-only visual language seen elsewhere in the game.
Earned vigilante moves cross into regular Downer Management through Micromanage.
Sidekicks remain exclusive to Weekend Vigilante.
Hub, loadout, approach, reward, and skill-state rules received a consistency pass.
Additional Changes
Locked the succession field to eleven entrants: the player, the main rival,
and nine other recurring claimants.
Reworked tutorials and handbook text around the current combat rules.
Updated events, room choices, combat notices, and succession dialogue.
Improved the review, reward, and building-victory presentation.
Removed obsolete systems and explanations that no longer served the game.
Cleaned up the credits and other release-facing copy.
Preserved save compatibility with existing campaigns.
Build the roster. Take the company.
