Hello!

This update adds a new 'Arcade' mode, as well as some fixes:

New changes

  • Added the 'Arcade' mode: A quick session of 10 random simulations, random rounds, and with the intro and outro segments removed.

  • When launching the game, players can choose between running the game normally or with Direct3D 12. We recommend running it normally, but if you run into graphical issues, you can try running it with the second launch option which will hopefully fix it.

  • Updated the Godot Engine version to 4.5.2 - this fixes a number of graphical issues for different hardware configurations.

  • Fixed issues with players getting stuck in geometry in some simulations, or even clipping out of the map in the case of 'Tunnel Hazard'.

  • Fixed the "flashbang" effect that happens if all players ready up as soon as possible after the intro segment in 'Original'.

  • Fixed an issue with character animation blend trees that caused uncanny visuals in some cases.

Public matchmaking / random lobbies

For players that are looking for other people to play with, there is now a pinned Steam discussion post that links to an official 'Looking for group' Discord server. There you can gather a group to try and survive.

Since the beginning of development we've designed and written the game for groups of friends due to the nature of party games, so while we hear your requests for public matchmaking and lobby lists, it was unfortunately not part of our core vision when we set out to make this game.

We truly appreciate the overwhelming response to the game, and it's great to see players looking to group together, but as far as in-game matchmaking functionality goes, we're unfortunately unable to support it due to how we envisioned the game.

That being said, we invite you to join in case you're looking for a group to play with!https://discord.gg/Vt2qm6v8PN

Couch co-op news

Machine Party on the big screen is coming together nicely, and will be released in the next few weeks.

We're almost ready to start testing and polishing all of the simulations, and once that's done, you can grab a controller, sit back, and try to relax!

Thank you for the continued support, and for sharing all of the bug reports!

More news soon,

- Mike & GDeavid
