Hello!

Machine Party v2.0 is now available, which adds couch co-op. Now you can throw Machine Party on the big screen (or a tiny CRT for extra cool points. if you do please e-mail us with a photo), grab a couple controllers, sit back, and try to relax!

Couch co-op

To access couch co-op: connect up to 4 controllers, navigate to Local in the menu, and select either Original, Custom, or Arcade. Once you're in the lobby screen, press any button on one of the controllers to join.

One player can also be on keyboard & mouse, so for a group of 4, you only need 3 controllers!

Note that in the couch co-op mode some lobby functionality, as well as some of the simulations, have been slightly tweaked. You can have a look in the changelog below.

Here is a simple diagram for how to setup your hardware accordingly:

Changelog

Online

  • Infected players in Inside Job (including the syringe person) are now slightly faster (1.15* the normal speed), instead of being the same speed as hiding players.

Local

  • Lobby functionality has been adjusted:

    • Joined players have to input their name, and select cosmetics afterwards before being able to ready up.

    • A countdown of 5 seconds will begin once all players have readied up, once it reaches 0, the game starts. Lobby changes will interrupt the countdown.

    • Regardless of the gamemode, all players will return to the lobby with their names and customization settings intact once the game is over.

  • Intermission functionality has been adjusted

    • All players are able to change the current page of the briefing screen.

    • The 'READY' button is replaced with custom UI to suit couch co-op.

  • Simulation changes

    • Minefield: The camera now follows players based on the distance between all players.

    • Chisel Gauntlet: The camera goes between one screen, or split screen, depending on whether the jumbotron is being viewed.

    • Duck Hunt: The screen is split in half, where the left side is the runners, and the right side is the hunter. For the runners, the camera has been placed farther, and it follows players depending on player distance similar to Minefield.

    • Inside Job and The Filter now work in split screen.

    • Firearm Factory: The required ingredient for gun assembly is now visible on the workbenches for all players, instead of being at the bottom of the factory.

    • The rest of the simulations behave the same as online.

We have also crossed over 1,000,000 copies sold. Thank you so much for the support! It makes us super happy hearing all the kind words from the folks that gave our grungy, violent party game a spin. We hope that even more chaos and laughter will emerge from the new couch co-op mode.

We'd also like to take this moment to share some awesome fan art:
