A few days ago we announced that Hyphen would be returning to Steam.
Well... it's official.
Hyphen is back on Steam and available to purchase again!
It's been a very long time since new players were able to pick up the game, so it feels a little strange (but very exciting) to finally see that purchase button back on the store page.
Over the years we've had messages from people asking where Hyphen went, whether it would ever come back, and if there was still any way to play it. We never forgot about those messages, and we're really pleased that we can finally say the game is available again.
The Same Hyphen, Ready for 2026
We haven't tried to reinvent the game or turn it into something it wasn't.
Our goal with bringing Hyphen back has simply been to preserve the original game while making sure it works properly on modern hardware.
The recent update included:
Improved performance and compatibility for Steam Deck.
Support for modern display resolutions and improved image quality.
Updated controller support, with the correct button glyphs automatically displayed for Xbox, PlayStation, and Steam Deck/SteamOS controllers.
Improved support for Linux players through Proton.
Removal of a few legacy features that made considerably more sense in 2013 than they do in 2026!
Underneath all of that, though, it's still Hyphen.
Same levels. Same gameplay. Same challenge. And yes, probably the same levels that frustrated you all those years ago.
Welcome Back
One of the nicest parts of preparing the game for its return has been seeing people talk about Hyphen again.
For a relatively small game released all those years ago, it's genuinely lovely to know that people still remember it.
So, to everyone who played Hyphen originally: welcome back.
And to anyone discovering the game for the first time: good luck!
