It has been a while since the last update, so this has a lot in it!
Settings has a new row, Layout.
Classic is the game as it has always been and it has not changed. Stage gives the painting the whole screen: your portrait sits in the corner with your health drawn around it and your companion at your shoulder, your record slides in from the left, the world from the right, and the tower on the right is the map. Hover a keeper's face for their band, tap one you have reached to walk back down, or fold the whole thing away. Try it out and let me know what you think. For now Classic stays the default for new players until Stage is where I want it.
The towers population.
The climbers you keep meeting climb between your runs, pass or fail the gates, feud, make friends, settle, and die, and the ones below come up to take their place. Each sanctuary has its own keeper. The notice board opens Word of the Tower: who is at this fire, where everyone is, your friends, the dead, and what happened to each of them last. Tap a face and you can back them in a feud, vouch for two friends, or ask a settled climber for a lesson, a trade or a room. The Stairs take you back down to any sanctuary you have reached.
Your sect means something now.
Every notable is sworn to a hall, the halls keep grudges, and two halls go to war when it runs deep enough. You can take a master from your own hall, who teaches you an art and sets you tasks, and one disciple who stands with you when a feud comes.
Companions hit a lot harder.
Their blow is a share of yours instead of a number the enemy's armor ate.
The game is moddable and on the Steam Workshop.
Everything the tower says or holds is plain JSON, a broken mod is set aside with a reason instead of breaking the climb, and there is a Mods screen on the title screen with a guide in the game folder.
Smaller things: the codex has a Lore tab, Settings has a Lighter effects row for a machine that stutters, the buttons in Stage make a quiet paper sound, Moye's word after an event waits until you tap it, the forge where a new soul is made is five boxes, and more!
If something looks off, especially in Stage, tell me here and I will get to it! Hope you have fun!
