This update brings you closer to your airport than ever before: look out from the tower cab, chase departing aircraft, take your own photos – and watch new buildings come to life as busy construction sites.
Right-click your tower and choose “Tower View”: the camera flies up into the cab. From there you oversee the apron, taxiways and runways like a real air traffic controller.
Look around by dragging with the right mouse button or with WASD, the mouse wheel zooms
A subtle cab frame with ceiling and floor gives you a real tower feeling
ESC or “Back” returns you to the normal view
Click a plane, then “Follow”: the camera moves right behind the aircraft and stays with it – while taxiing, during the takeoff roll and in the climb, until the plane disappears into the clouds.
Drag with the right mouse button or use WASD to rotate around the plane, the mouse wheel changes the distance
A bar shows the flight number and current status
Works from both 2D and 3D view, and with landing planes too
ESC takes you back to your previous view
The new button at the very bottom of the left bar hides the entire interface – leaving nothing but your airport.
Choose any time of day, from sunrise to night – it only applies to the photo, your game time stays unchanged
Depth of field with adjustable strength, a click into the picture sets the focus
The camera can get closer and lower to the ground than usual
“Save photo” stores the image as a PNG in Pictures › Pixel Airport Tycoon
The game is paused meanwhile (can be turned off), H hides the photo panel, ESC leaves the mode
Combined with the follow camera, the followed plane automatically stays in focus
New buildings no longer just pop up – in 3D view they are now actually built.
The building slowly rises out of the ground, hidden behind tarps or construction netting with scaffolding
A tower crane works next to it, swinging over the site and lifting loads – large buildings like Terminal 4 get up to three cranes
At night, red warning lights blink on the cranes
At the end, the tarp drops with a small cloud of dust and the crane retracts
Depending on size, construction takes about 12 to 32 seconds, faster at higher game speed
The building is fully operational during construction – so you don't lose any time
