We're back!

We’ve spent the last couple of months slowly playtesting Grimroll with a closed group of local game developers, we’ve also been tirelessly implementing the feedback we’ve gotten so far and we’re extremely excited to share that development on the game is going full steam ahead. In keeping with these great pushes forward we've made with the game, we first created new Key Art for Grimroll, giving the spotlight to some of our characters and the oppressive woods they find themselves in.

A lot of the work in the last couple of months has been focused on the art direction and nailing what we wanted the game to look like. In this short update we'll go over some new art stuff and how they came to be, so let's start.

We’ve explored the Croatian Naïve art movement and decided to take a lot of inspiration from it for our own art direction. It's an art movement that's often overlooked in modern media but for our Ui heavy game it was perfect, fitting the theme of the game so beautifully as well. We couldn't wait to start playing around with it and we first wanted to dip our toes into character design using this art style and below you can see some of the enemies we've created so far.

After that, of course, it was time to tackle environmental design. Have a gander at a basic concept of an area for the game we're working on. The lack of outlines in the environment was tricky to get used to, but we think it's great, adding to the strange Fairy tale feeling of the game overall. As kids, most of our parents and grandparents read stories to us that were illustrated in the very same style, it's quite surreal that we now have the opportunity to present this style in a new light.

Games from Croatia Sale!

There’s a big sale event happening on Steam right now and you can check out some great games from our country!

Also, if you are itching to play a game from us, Eyes in the Dark is currently 75% off as part of the same event.

We’ll be back soon with a more design focused update here… and if you are interested in more artwork or just yapping with us then come join us on our discord channel and yap away!

Community9 Oct 2026Live to roll another die, part 2In one of our earlier posts, I spoke about the different varieties of dice that you’ll encounter in Grimroll. Today I want to continue by talking about a few more varieties of dice as well as a few more examples of our infusions and end rewards that define your playstyle. Poison and Rot die The poison dice work by applying a debuff on an enemy box, that debuff will then tick the number that’s o…Community2 Sep 2026Back from Gamescom!A short one this week. We're back from our yearly vacation and are already deep in development of the game again. In case you were wondering how the actual playable version is coming along, we spent a few days showing it off at Courage, a small indie showcase running alongside Gamescom in Cologne. Putting a build in front of strangers is the fastest feedback we get. You can watch someone pick u…Community14 Aug 2026Home is where the dice areWe’re back with another Art post today, and this time we’re showing you two places: one you’ll want to stay in, and one that will absolutely want you gone. Let’s start at home. Gaze upon this super early concept of the Hub, or as we call it, Baba’s Hut. This is where you’ll catch your breath between runs, so we’re filling it with different items, cabinets and a collection of trinkets all over t…
