Hey Gas Jockeys!
As you probably know from our devlog “How Shady Deals Became Roadhouse Simulator”, when we started working on Shady Deals, we intended it to be another major DLC for Gas Station Simulator. The pub was meant to be another part of the petrol station, with Uncle introducing the player to the more dubious side of the business.
Once we decided to make it a full-fledged game, another question arose: when should this story take place?
We already knew where Uncle would eventually end up, but not how he got there. Since Road House as a business was going to be his story, why not go back in time and see him before all that?
And that’s how the idea of making it a prequel to Gas Station Simulator was born. We moved the story to an earlier stage in Uncle’s life, to a different part of Route 66, and turned the roadside inn next to the petrol station into the game’s main setting.
Sometimes you don’t plan a prequel from the beginning... Sometimes you just keep asking yourself: “What happened before?”
