Porthole is out now

Hey everyone,

Porthole is out now on Steam. Version 1.0 is here, it's free, and you can get it from the store page.

A quick refresher on what it does: point Porthole at a game server on your machine and share one short code. Your friend runs Porthole too, enters the code, and reaches the server at a local address on their own machine, just like a LAN game. It runs over Steam's network, so there's no port forwarding, no public IP, and no router settings to deal with. Your friend approves each shared port on their side, and you can kick or ban anyone at any time.

We have a Discord now

We opened a community Discord, and it's a good place to get help, talk about the games you're playing, show off how you have things set up, and meet other players. Come join us: discord.gg/vTN6r5RBwH.

Looking for someone to play with?

You don't have to bring your own group. There's a Looking For Players space in two places, so you can find a session or start your own:

  • On Discord, the Looking For Players forum in our server.

  • On Steam, the Looking For Players forum.

Post the game and your timezone, and go find some people.

Found a bug, or have feedback?

We read everything. The best ways to reach us:

  • Discord, the bug-reports channel.

  • The Bugs & Issues forum here on Steam: Porthole discussions

  • GitHub for issue tracking: github.com/SeStudio/porthole

Porthole can also open a prefilled bug report for you, ready to review, under Settings then Report compatibility.

New here?

The website explains how it all works in plain terms and answers the questions we hear most, in every language Porthole ships in.

That's it

Not installed yet? The store page is one click away. Then bring a friend, or go make a new one, share a code, and play something together. Thanks for being here, and see you in the lobby.
