A few things to cover in this announcement but first: Thank you to everyone that played the game during Steam Next Fest, especially to those people that provided their feedback!
What you can find in the update:
Reduced brightness of background to make it easier to see enemy ships.
Added a small icon to enemies to make them easier to parse as enemy ships.
Increased size of icons on radar to make them more readable.
Changed the format of tutorial messages and added additional tutorial popups.
Added venting which allows you to regain power faster, but you won't be able to fire your weapons while venting.
When unlocking a vault you can be presented with up to 3 different blueprints to choose from. The hope is that gives an easier way to put together the type of build you want.
Enemies have been given additional combat behaviors to make dogfights more interesting.
Movement key bindings can now be customized.
Lots of graphical updates from new color filters that help give everything some lighting to new structures and environmental assets.
Bunch of other bug fixes and what not.
The game is basically "done" which means we have a lot of work still to do. Most of this looks like balancing, finishing out the cutscenes, fixing bugs, and lots of playtesting.
There's also some polish items we're trying to get to around controller support, possibly dimming points of interest on the radar after you visit them, and additional display settings (especially when it comes to Steam Deck and HUD scaling in general).
Our artist, Vince, is hard at work making assets to replace the placeholder assets we've had towards the end of the game. We're excited to show off some more of his work in our release trailer that will be coming soon.
We'll have more to share towards the end of the month and the start of August as we get closer to releasing the full game.
